Trade a Rose Gold Panerai 497....I have problem. Trade?

My name is Pierson and I have a problem.... I'm ADD and even when i get my "dream" watch I keep looking at others. I've got a feeling that I should be in good company here.

So, I own an awesome 10 Day Radiomir, the PAM 497. One of 250 made, rose gold, yada yada yada

....and have been eying a swap for the Rolex Daytona Meteorite, gold, strap version.

Should I? Basically a straight up trade. If it was the bracelet version i'd do it in a heartbeat. I do have a thing for space/nasa stuff. I'd kill to own a Omega Snoopy if anyone has one lying around ;)

I don't know. I was eyeing some of the gold pams at the Betteridge holiday party last night. They are beautiful.

Why not just add an 116520?

I would probably stay with your PAM. Its an amazing piece and personally think its more special than a daytona on a strap. If you want something a little different i would check a PM daytona on a bracelet. Change it up.

Not sure if you prefer WG, YG, or Platinum. So many people on here just say PM meaning either one of those choices.

Got yah. Yeah, thats why the gold daytona Meteorite is intriguing. But I'm now leaning towards keeping this one. I can't afford two big watches.

I'm not really a big Panerai fan myself, but I'd keep what you have in regards to what you are thinking of trading for. But that's just IMO.

There's your answer. I wouldn't trade that PM PAM.

I would do some more research and give yourself some time to see other watches in the market. The Daytona on a strap does not do it for me. A PM Daytona on a bracelet, that is a differant story.

The 497 is one of the most beautiful RG Panerai in my opinion (together with the 273 which looks much the same but with a simple sandwich dial and green lume). The Platona is the only Daytona I'd even consider trading for if giving up such a beautiful PAM.

thank you! you're all helping me stay put, which is definitely the right decision.

on a side note, the PAM 497 comes with a stunning gold deployment clasp (ridiculously expensive to replace) and i'm really worried about scratching it up (i work at a desk and constantly have my wrist on tables and laptops/metal). any advice?

There is so little of the clasp exposed so will likely scratch less than the clasp on a metal bracelet (which will show scratches almost immediately). I wouldn't be too concerned about minor scratches which can likely polished out at service time. Enjoy the watch and wear it rather than fretting about normal wear and tear. A watch is meant to be worn regardless of whether it costs $5 or $50k.

I know, but its just so pretty and clean. I somehow end up banging my wrists around everywhere. maybe i can figure out some little protection just for that bit that would rest on my metal laptop.

I completely agree. I've got a 273 in Red/ Rose gold and it is stunning.
But, like the OP, I had an itch to trade it. However, I was not given any offers - and was told by several well known resellers that "there's no interest in that watch".
There's little chance I'd swap it for a Daytona, and AP doesn't make a ROO with RG and Ceramic bezel in 42mm, so I'll keep it in the safe until either I can get some "real" money out of it, or it goes as part of an inheritance.

I'd keep that Pam! Daytonas will just be flimsy and insignificant on your wrist in comparison.
