Beloved Seamaster Stopped, PO Replacement?

We have a midsize auto Bond Seamaster 300 that suddenly stopped after 18 months with no advance warning. It will have to be sent to one of the dreaded service centers under warranty.

I have an opportunity to get a mid-sized Planet Ocean Orange as a replacement for $2,100.00 from Jareds. But the catch is that its pre-owned and you do not get a box or cards, but you do get a one year store warranty.

Any thoughts as to this arrangement?

Personally, I would pass on that deal. This is a buyers market right now, with some GREAT deals to be had. If I were paying that kind of coin for a watch, I would make SURE it at least came with the original box/papers/etc. If I were you, I would just send in the Seamaster to an Omega service center, and wait however long it takes to fix it, and before you know it, you'll have a brand new watch again !
I wanted a new PO as well, but will probably wait until next year to get one. I LOVE the 45.5MM black face, on the SS bracelet !

For a little more, you can get a NIB PO with 3-year warranty from my AD.

Tell me more. I am also thinking 2K is a bit much for it as well at this time. Was a bit taken aback by the Seamaster just quitting. Everything I had ever read about these Seamaster was incredibly positive. Wound it and it ran for about four hours. Then stopped again. Would not budge.

Pass along any pricing info you have at your disposal.

Not all service is horrible, just stay away from New Jersey. Another option is to forget the remaining warranty and have a local guy you really trust do the work. Sometimes these things happen. I had my Rolex stop on me once. Like everyone else says, that's not a good deal.

I didn't think that there was any such thing as a PO "mid-size"...

Both the 42's and the 45's run about the same for new at a discount dealer... ~2,400. 2,100 from a retail Dealer like Jared's for one of their pre-owned pieces is really a good price, but they should provide you with a Dealer warranty of some sort..
