Gosh my black dial 116500 feels insulted after this post. You did go for the classic smaller case size though, great choice

Haha why insulted? Both series are great looking regardless! There is no intended bashing of any other models!

Yeah it looks and is 1mm smaller than the newer one sigh.. and man I really do love bigger watches.. so imagine how much i preferred the bolder look with more contrast of the older one otherwise I normally would have gone for the bigger.

I don’t think it’s even 1mm smaller is it?? There is a lot of optical illusions going on with the case change.

Lugs are 1mm smaller, and the case size, some say is same size, some say is 1mm smaller too.. I’m not sure but comparing both size by size, it’s looks pretty much same to me

I think sub-dials and bezel stand out to me .. although I went 116 I’m not counting out at some point upgrading to 126 .. side by side I’m not keen on 126, but when tried on wasn’t as noticeable .. plus my eyesight is shocking anyhoo

126500LN or 116500LN? I went for…

They do wear similar but the 126 case is as wide as the overhang of the bezel. On the 116 the bezel overhangs beyond the case. Hence the new case is slightly wider

As measured 10 to 4 (or as close as you can get) yes, its 1mm smaller.

More obvious when viewed from behind. The pic is a PM vs steel, but the 12 series steel case is measuring the same as the 11 series PM

Bezel outer diameter is effectively the same

Wow, there is something that I have not noticed with the case back. It appears the 12 series Daytona has a more domed case back???? That was one of the huge factors why the 11 series Daytona is so comfortable with its large flat case back that spreads its weight over a larger surface area on your wrist.

People always like what they own best, so enjoy it!

Interestingly, on several past threads, the 116500 black dial seemed to win the popularity contest.

I had the 116 panda but after selling it I don’t really miss it. But it was a great watch! I would love to own the black 126. That ring around the ceramic and the small subdials make it look so good!

That would be a hell of a pair with your GMT meteor.

That “ring” will be the first place you look to judge condition. It’s such a stupid move for Rolex to create a known vulnerability in the 126500 and 12651x models from their vast experience over polishing 116520 and 16520 bezels.

Everyone knows this, right?!?

Nah..polishing a rim would be much cheaper than replacing the whole ceramic bezel if there’s a chip/crack upon an impact I suppose. And this design is also a nod to the earlier generation Daytonas. Do also have a look at the current speedmasters , they also have it

Both the 116 and 126 are gorgeous watches, but I prefer the 126 by a small margin in either color. Just a cleaner, more sophisticated look.

I am not a fan of “big cases / lugs” … I passed on the 11 Series Submariners for that very reason, and bought the second it came out, the 12 Series “Bluesy”.

There are some things I like about each, but …

my wish was, that they built the 12 Series Daytona using the left lugs of the 11 Series x 4 on the 12 Series … giving it a more tapered / sleek / proportionate look, as the lugs meld into the bracelet.

The wide body, making the bracelet look narrow, is holding me back.

We’ve been down this road before, when the 11 Series Submariner morphed into the 12 Series Submariner … emotions might be mixed from consumers, but most like the shape / proportions of the 12 Series Subs over the “maxi case” 11 Series Subs … someone at Rolex agreed, and a better looking watch (in my opinion) was delivered in the 12 Series Submariner …

I wish they had done the same with the 12 Series Daytona.

Other opinions will vary, this is just mine.

Always the owners of previous ref. Says that is the one and the new one its hot shitt …. But at the end everyone knows that the new panda 12 series is the one and only …. Better dial , case proportions, sub dials …. Overall looks no way jose … 11 series owners cry but in silence:)

I have a 116500LN Panda which I am very pleased with. I ordered 126500LN with a black dial a year ago. Congratulations to the creator of the topic on a good choice!

Beautiful pics! And congrats on your choice too, indeed a gorgeous watch. Always peeping at my watch when I go out, like how I’d glance at a beautiful girl occasionally haha 😜

Can’t decide!!!! Plus not sure I feel like waiting on my AD for the 12 lol. Maybe the most comfortable watch I’ve ever put on.

Congrats, OP! I think any one of the 4 options would have been a winner!

I just purchased a 116 Black dial - got it yesterday. Thankfully I missed this thread before purchasing it - it would have driven me off the deep end. Such a great looking watch and a 126 would have been great also.

I have the panda 11 series and would have loved the black as well before it was discontinued. The pusher/crown side of the 11 series just looked more balanced. That being said, maybe I get lucky and I'll be able to add a black 12 series.
