Panerai PVD models
I've really started to like the PVD or DLC PAMs and would like to find one. Can anyone suggest models that I can look at. I'm new to these and am having a hard time wading through the many models. A guide showing the PVD PAMs would be great. Thanks!

The latest one is the 360 if you can find one. IIRC there aren't any current production DLC PVD models.

Kind of like this one in a 360? I do not think there is a regular production PVD model. They are mostly special editions. |

You can either try to source models like the 009 or 360, or get a 000 (new or used) and have someone do it for you (or source a used one from someone who did that). I think the latter two options will be the least expensive.

Mike, To be honest, I also got the rejection letter/email. The boutique called me out of the blue and I am not a big time buyer/collector/insider and so I was extremely shocked. I do however feel a duty to make sure I give the newbies a nice welcome when they come into the brand and its nice to be able to do this. Like my Dad always tell me... better lucky than good any day of the week. Fred |

Pvds are nice. I think if anything ill get a some beat 005 and do the pvd coating. i think the painted dial looks way better pvd than a sandwich. i think there is a member here that has one, that usually post pics.

I had the 28L it was a beautiful watch I miss it and may get one again beautiful hobnail dial and centered power reserve...but I will get some stainless models first I don't recommend making the DLC your only watch not versatile enough

I don't understand your question. Are you asking why Panerai hasn't released any PVD models recently? If so, I'm not sure any one knows for sure other than maybe they get tired of complaints from people who have scratched their PVD coating.

Having said that... @OP - beware that PVD is notorious for being a scratch-magnet. A friend of mine got his hands on a pre-V PVD model and after having worn it maybe 10mins, locked it away in the safe... . SS gets easily scratched too, but it's a hell of a lot easier to polish SS then to re-PVD a case... Quote:

That was the promise of the composite material, to have the scratch resistance of ceramic without the worry of chipping or shattering. But what most people feel is that we got was something more like PVD, it still scratches and now you don't have the weight of steel underneath but rather a lightweight aluminum. |

These are the models in chronological order
4A, 9A, 4B, 9B, 26A/B, 28 A/B, 26K, 28L, 332, Dubai edition 212 in PVD. and the two ultra SEs are 195 and 360. Those are the only PVD models produced by Panerai. Good luck on your search. |

Are you only interested in PVD/DLC, or also the "blackened" variants - i.e., ceramic and composite models? If yes, there are few more choices you can consider.

I didn't realize the 009B series were also using T Swiss T dials. What's the main difference between the A & B series?
