I might agree with the DD2 as the proportions are just way off, but the new one is just about perfect.

They are nice watches, I own a DJ41.

Yep that’s a fair point, you’re not wrong.

But, I go by the lug-to-lug measurement, something many people gloss over.

More than half of the pics posted here are using the whole wrist for the case head itself. I appreciate the modern look is just that - as much wrist real estate taken up.

To me, though, it looks off.

Wow. People have some very intense opinions about those few extra millimeters.
And the OP gets banned for this?

For the vast majority of DD40 and DD2 owners... it’s too big for you.

He had it coming. He was involved in many threads besides this one where he was combative and snarky. Not conducive to the spirit of the forum nor it's rules.

No I agree. The 36mm is better. The 40 or DJ41 is gigantic. just my .02 like the rest here.

Beautiful watch. I think it looks great. What size is your wrist for reference?

Fully agree on the DD2. The proportions never looked right to me, and with the extremely wide fluted bezel, reminds me of the wall clocks that used to hang in Rolex ADs. The bracelet taper never felt right either. I feel like Rolex realized this and that's why they discontinued it and brought out the DD40, which is much, much better.

Personally? I think the 36mm DD (and DJ for that matter) are pretty much in the perfect proportion. THE classic Rolex watches. I took a bit of a detour when I scored my Daytona-C, but I WILL have a 36mm DD someday. Probably not new though, as there are soooo many quality pieces on the secondary market.

That looks perfectly proportioned to me. I think it's a matter of taste. People like what they like. Over the past 10-15 years, we've seen a trend towards larger watch sizes being prevalent. And I like it.

We've gotten to the point where some would say that a 36mm watch looks too small on a typical man's wrist. There are many factors involved, including how big a watch "wears" despite it's lug-to-lug dimensions.

So what size is the ‘typical’ mans wrist?!?! Are most men a specific size?

How about, what looks better on someone’s wrist, due to their personal wrist size?

Exactly how a watch is supposed to look.

I personally think that a lot of people wear a watch that ‘wears them’. I’ve seen enough pics on here to indicate that. Guys with skinny wrists who are wearing lovely watches, but quite clearly too large for them.

I agree with OP for what it’s worth. Lots of times I see people with dj41 or dd40 or skyD and think that it’s too much for their wrists. Obviously it’s their money and wrist so that’s what counts. That said, I think the big watch trend is tacky and will make a watch look dated sooner rather than later. It’s like the baggy jean trend in the 90s. Watches are kind of like clothes in my opinion. Sometimes they just don’t fit.

It’s refreshing to have someone be so forthright about their insecurities and feelings of inadequacy. You really don’t have to live your life this way. Help is available.

OP’s post was needlessly provocative and utterly pointless, other than to perhaps expose his/her own insecurities.

Hmm personally I wished they came out with something in between though. 36mm felt too small for my 6.5" wrist and 41mm too big. A 39 would be sweet.

What's the average wrist size of DD40 and DD2 owners? Don't know? Then I have to conclude...uninformed post.

I'm in the boat of the 36mm is better than the 40mm but OP really didn't need to write it in a manner that's so abrasive.

Now I am a big fan of small watches, 32-36 is my sweet spot, but I would definitely wear a DD40 and don't think it is too large on my 6.5" wrist.

I mean, they don't make the honeycomb dial for the 36 so...

If one can get away with a 36 then do it. Save the money. Classic size. I'm jealous.

Glad the Moderator banned this guy...not conducive to the spirit of the forum nor it’s rules...

Watch size is all a matter of personal taste.

My pop told me when I was 10 that if I went through life worrying about what others think of me, I’d have a pretty miserable life. I’ve never forgotten that piece of advice. It’s served me well.

I had a choice between the 36 and 40 - both beautiful watches. I have 7.25” wrists, I’m 6’1 and 195 lbs...the 40 just felt better to me.
