Which 5270g are you referring to?

Patekaholic posted a list with discontinued references on his instagram account three days ago...

If I look at the listed references it does make a lot of sense to me.

It would not surprise me if Patek discontinued their entire line of 5270Gs. They had a 6 year run (since 2011) and in the mind of many collectors, over-produced.

5270R has been produced since 2015, so I predict it will continue production for a few more years with other dial combinations.

Didn't make sense to me either, and a bunch I thought would go aren't on it, but he's put his neck pretty far out on it and said it's been published.

A 5270P will be nice (a.k.a. bad for the wallet).

What's your best guess with regards to how much longer the 5270R will remain in production?

They still haven't produced a J, yet. Maybe the J and P this year??

I'd be very surprised to see a J,R and P lineup.

I'm betting on a new version all together.

Hopefully a blue one where you can actually read the time/same for Platinum.

Why not many people choose white dial with G?

It seems to me. Most people like blue dial and rose gold.

I saw this too. Was thinking about getting the blue one. Will they change the dial again? It looks like rose gold is staying, so is it just new metals?

Do you have any news about 5271P or 5270P?

No, nothing yet. But this has been confirmed by my AD. I saw the list of discontinued models. I think the Calatrava 6000G was on it too.

I wonder what they're going to do with the chrono models...

I really want the 5270 blue dial......it's just been such a dog, I am not sure it being discontinued makes it a better decision short term

First series 5270 discontinued for some time and prices still softening. It will require some time before this model, either first second or third series, becomes collectible. Buy it because it is an amazing watch and you love it but not because you believe it will be collectible in the near term.

Buy it because you love it (the blue dial is sweet). I don't imagine the 5270 or 5170 will become collectible.

There has been only one R version released so far, so if they keep the production run short, could this become a collectible one down the road? Only time will tell, of course, but it is unique (so far) in that regard. Full disclosure, I have the R.

I seriously doubt it. The newer chronos are produced in large numbers and haven't engendered the enthusiasm from collectors as the older Lemania-based models. I don't see that changing. In fact other than a couple of one off pieces like the 5131, I don't see any modern Pateks becoming collectible like the older models. It's a different world now...

I agree with this. I say this with some trepidation given the 5270 fans here, but I think the feature where the 5270 has sub dials that are centered below the middle of the face completely throws off the symmetry of the dial and makes the lower half look crowded and squashed and leaves the top half totally empty. Find a picture of the 5270 that doesn't have the hands at 10 to 10 and this is very noticeable. Look it's a gorgeous watch so understand these are extremely picky observations, but I don't think 5270 will be held in the same regard as the 5970 and predecessors. The comment above about the movement is fair too.

There is a whole market of Patek buyers who appreciate the larger sizes that Patek is putting out. At 41mm the 5270 is a winner to me over the 5970 which is smaller. Don't know if it will be a collectible or not nor do I care but I know it's in my future and a 5970 is not. Looking forward to Basel and hopefully more 42mm watches from Patek aka 5524 and 5905.
