TRF. Talk me into buying a new BMW 750i.
So a few months ago, I purchased outright a new RRS ATB. I needed a DD that was comfortable and safe for my 100 mile daily round trip to work. The M4 is a blast of a ride, but I just couldn't keep driving it so much. Too harsh of a ride for a daily driver. Also, the car wanted to stay 100mph at all times on the freeway.
Two days after I bought the Rover, the Mrs. tells me she's pregnant...... So now I lost my truck. The M4 is a lease, so it will be easier to work a deal and manage a turn in a lot easier on another BMW than another make. The only car in their lineup that I kind of like is the 750i. (No Alpina B7 or 760's on the lot yet unfortunately) Any kind words on the 7 series? Or should I just go the S Class route? I have a few more months to make my decision. |

Should I just get in shape, lose weight, and keep the M?
Or go fat boy in a 7er/S/Escalade? |

I'd keep the M4.
Nothing depreciates as fast as a 7-series BMW.

Love the RR. Been driving one for 5 years as a DD with 120 mile per day commute. Yes i fill up every two days. Personally after this car ill probably go with a tesla model S or a porsche panamera.

If you're bent on expensive European, then by all means get the one you like. However, with kids on the way, it's best to be practical. My younger sister, over the course of time, manage to completely remove the interior trim off her door. Kids are destructive forces. Just plan on whatever you have eventually getting destroyed and you'll make more practical decisions.

Had the new 7 series and sold with 60 days. Too floaty a feel to it. I like riding high and SUV is a must.
I don't understand why you have to get rid of Rover? Just because the wife is pregnant isn't the Rover better than car? Go drive a new 17 Escalade (while not as much prestige as some, the electronics are a 100% better and I love these damn things). |

Keep the Rover and look for a lightly used M5, plenty of room for a car seat.

I would try and keep the RR, not sure why you need to get rid of it. Should accommodate your family's needs, correct? I love the m4, I'd keep them both. If you decided to go with a large sedan, the S class is king.

No no no, I'm keeping the Rover.
I'm letting her keep it, so now I need a daily driver. She has a Volt, and I'm not driving that, or letting my child in it. Don't feel comfortable driving the M4 anymore. Paul any difference between the 15/16 Escalade compared to the 17? The M5 is out of question since they are doing a redesign soon, I don't want to be in the old gen model. |

New G30 5 series looks promising and is suppose to go back to its roots more as a performance Sedan.
I would highly consider that...... I actually am once I trade in my M4 next year. Going to more than likely trade for a 550i No need to go all out Luxo Barge for 1 kid. You would miss the performance/ handling etc of the M4 making the move to a 7. Plus if you go luxo barg... S Class is the only way to go I would also consider looking at a 6 series Grand Coupe' as well Good Luck |

I had the prior gen 7 and now the new one. It's GREAT. My wife loves all the camera and electronics that help her to park, etc. It feels way lighter than the prior one but it's super big and long...you may like or not like that aspect...I like it.
It's a great car. I personally don't like the S class. |

If I had to drive a 100 miles a day, I can hardly think of a more comfortable and safe car than the 7 series. The 5 series are pretty nice too. Be safe...!!

For the price of a new BMW you can get a 2000s Bentley Arnage and have all the class and creature comforts. It feels more grounded on the road too. The BMWs in the 750+ to Rolls Royce range tend to float a little. It depends on your drive style.
If you're thinking SUV, then I third the opinion on the new escalade. I'm thinking of selling my hummer and getting one. |

if that's the only space in your garage, the 7 is out of the question unless you're a Duke boy.
fwiw, isn't a 5 series the natural bump up from a 4 series anyway? try a 550xi --- you may like it. |

Very quiet, smooth, not too expensive, super comfortable and everything works seamlessly. Three row seats that adults and sit in as well. |

I have new 7 and it is amazing car. It is super quick and handles so well for a big car. It is lighter and better than old series which I had due to carbon fiber core and vast updates. The technology is also amazing as is the seat comfort. I came from M6 to this and glad I did. I also did a 2 year lease and am almost a year into it. So if I were you I'd go for it - good luck with decision.

Don't know what you mean by "Duke Boy".... sounds like fighting words Paul if that's the only difference, I'll just buy a 2015/2016 cash. I'm going to test drive the 750 next week when I get back home. |

You can get an old Arnage for like 20k. Then spend another 20k fixing the old POS. If your going to get a Rolls Royce, you go new (or close to new). I'd feel like a bafoon riding around in something like that with cracked leather seats and lights on the dashboard. |

Thanks Paul, having my first child and I'm super excited/nervous. It's hard enough taking care of myself. Now I have a wife and child to support, but believe me I take pride in it.

It seems your mind is made up anyway, so just get the car you want and ignore others advice. Good luck.

Tex,
Would you really pick an Escalade over a Range Rover? Quote:
