First post...first Rolex!

My grail has been the Rolex Submariner for some years now. Until recently, I had never done any "serious" research. I only knew of its iconic status and that I loved the beautiful, yet understated appearance. It has been the one piece missing to complete my edc.

I can be a little obsessive before a major purchase. In the past weeks I've watched countless videos and read innumerable articles and threads. 116610 vs 16610, 116610 vs GMT blnr, Subc pros and cons, maintenance/cleaning, new vs pre-owned, will it fit on my 6.75" wrist, insurance, where to buy, pricing...my browser has a full folder of bookmarks. I don't think I left out any detail.

I literally started at Rolex's main site, and ended on TRF. Today is my own Inauguration Day! I finally purchased an amazing condition Subc at a price that is one of the lowest I've found from one of the forums dealers. I just want to give my appreciation to so many members here whose knowledge and opinions helped me to make my decision and guided me to my purchase. Thank You Thank You!!

Congratulations! I am like you. When I find myself interested in something, I research every aspect of it. What a great feeling, isn't it? Post some pictures!.

I will definitely be purchasing insurance. Probably Jewelers Mutual, but need to check the cost to add it to my homeowner policy too. The watch arrives tomorrow, so I have a little time.

Welcome to TRF Jeff

A little bit of research can save you some money in more ways than one

Congrats on a "smart" buy

Just bought my first Rolex for myself. I've always bought watches that displayed both the day of the week as well as the date, so it was obvious that my first Rolex had to be a President Day-Date. So the first one I felt that I like that I could also afford was a 1981 18038. I'm really pleased with it at this time, but, of course, time will tell.
