Hi, everyone!

I just got this beautiful spanish red quarter dial Day-Date. 3 of its tritium plots are (6, 8 and 9 position). However at closer inspection, two of the plots are apparently dangling around inside the crystal dome.

What should I do then?

1. Should I leave it as is?

2. Should I have my watchmaker glue back the two loose plots and let one position without a plot?

3. Have the two loose plots glued back and then relume the last missing one?

4. Have all plots relumed?

Any and all comments would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Not sure what you mean about dangling, but if they are actually just sliding around inside, I would definitely hack it, and take it to my watchmaker. I would worry about one of the plots getting wedged in the day, or date window, and causing more problems!! JMO!

they have a bit of patina to them too I'd probably just get them all ripped off and the plot points wiped clean so it's lumeless or relumed so it all matches. or if you just got it, return it.

I can see one of them in the second pic. It's lodged between crystal and rehaut right at the edge just below the crown.

Since tritium won't be replaceable - and the vintage dial is a T SWISS T one, you have to think about restoring with luminova. If your watchmaker has this skills then it is safer than letting the loose plots float around.

Of course you also have option of removing them all and simply have a clean original dial without plots.

But it is best to have the situation fixed before trouble can happen.

If they can be cleanly removed...and leave no trace that might be a great option..and then source non lume hands. :-)

All of the dials said t swiss t anyway...even the non lume ones I'm fairly sure...so...not a big deal.

Rolex Geneve relumed an old perfect dial with luminova in a 1018 I had once ... I didn't ask and neither did they it just came back that way.

On a non sport model I don't personally have an issue with that. I like a watch to function..

If it bothers you, I would personally either have all the lume plots carefully cleaned and removed, or have the dial professionally relumed.
