Oyster Royal questions

what means "royal"?
was this a "luxury" version of the oyster?

Oyster Royals were specifically made for Great Britain and Canada, they seem to command a few hundred dollar premium, I think they're interesting, I had a Tudor one, though I can't remember if it was a Tudor Essex, Royal, or London, they were all essentially the same thing, just with different names for the british commonwealth. there's literally no difference from any other 6426 other than the line of text; and while I find them interesting, I do not thing they're worth a premium

on the mine, I have no inscription between the lugs on one side and on the other side "registered design".

is it normal for a model of 1961 ?

I have beter seen with a magnifying and I can write "6426 REGISTERED DESIGN" and at 6 "...3...".

so I think the inscrpitions have just diappeared with time...
strange, the seller says me he can date the watch with the bottom of the case... is it possible ?

6426/27 are the same thing with a different bezel. 6426/0 is probably just what they use to classify it as a 6426 or another variant when it comes in for service.

It gets a little shruggy with some of these references. The case back can be stamped with a completely different model than what's between the lugs, and it came that way from the factory. If it fits, it ships. Rolex motto from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

I'm sure mine says 6422, but need new eyes nowadays! Judging by the dial etc. must be 6427?
