Simply...The Wine Thread

Just broke another glass cleaning lipstick off it! Anyone else have issues with Riedel glasses having glass that is too thin?

Happy Friday Night! Cheers Everyone! It's a Chardonnay night, Salmon for dinner.

Picked up a few bottles today...

^^^ Yeah, if you look at Riedel's wrong while washing them they will break. My wife broke two in the first two times she was washing them, and I've been in charge of them since. I bought a Brushtech Crystal Stemware Brush to clean them with and think I've only broken 1 in the last 3-4 years, but I am extra careful with them.

That is a dinner I want to be at. Raveneau MDT is one of my favourite wines.

Reidel's do break on me to when washing. I have switched to Zalto's as my primary glassware choice now. Although they look fragile they are sturdy as hell.

Woah!

I'll be the minority here by saying I'll take the Pride over almost anything in that shipment. Okay, maybe not the Opus One

I've never had a Pride cab. I'll have to look for one if you rate it that high, as there are plenty of winners in that lineup.

Pride produces some amazing wines. I put their merlot up there as well... Probably second on my list after Pahlmeyer

Wynns Coonawarra Estate "The Siding" Cabernet Sauvignon, 2010.
Rich and vibrant but needed at least another 3 years.
The Maker said "short to medium term" which I interpreted as ready about now but not the case. Only one more of this vintage so won't be drinking that soon.

Simply...The Wine Thread

A little Italian food and Chianti. I would recommend this wine with pasta any day! Can't beat it for around $25 a bottle.

Winemaker's Notes

Santa Margherita is renowned for its elegant and authentic Italian style. This Chianti Classico Riserva is a deep and dense ruby red coloring and offers aromas of very ripe black cherries and plums, then floral hints of gladiolus. An elegant and complex wine, the fruit and spice flavors shift to darker fruits and mellow herbal notes.

Perfect with braised and grilled meats, Tuscan cuisine, and rich, savory sauces.

Ralph's is having a 40% off sale when you buy 12 bottles. They had 6 of the Silver Oak so I bought them. Their regular price is $79.99, which is $5 more than Total Wine, but when you factor in 40% off it comes out it $54.42 a bottle tax included.

Their sale is on till tomorrow.

They have The Prisoner for $34, tax included as well.

Alpha Omega II Red 2012
Red Blends from Napa Valley, California

Very enjoyable and reasonably priced wine, Average Critic Score 90/100 Points around $40 a bottle.

Winemaker's Notes

II is the culmination of the two worlds, the Alpha and the Omega, the Old World and the New World. Our two winemakers, Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland, worked to create a wine that is not only opulent, fruit-forward and generous, but also has the backbone of European acidity and elegance. A reflection of both worlds, II is a wine that is built to be approachable, both in taste and price, and consumed early.

A blend that combines 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Petit Verdot, 18% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc, the Alpha Omega II Red Blend is aged 14 months in 40% new French oak before release.

Great stuff there,Larry!

I enjoyed this one last week. It has an interesting history. Malbec grapes grown in Argentina and shipped to California. It is then made at the Caymus winery.
Wifey and I enjoyed it!

That does look like a special case! I wish my store had the SO Napa in addition to the Alexander Valley.
