Which one would you pick...?? 5512, 5513, or 1675

"Hi" members.....

Thinking of getting into vantage Rolex Circa 1976-1977 (serial numbers mid 4million to high 5million)

Which one you prefer and which one is more desirable....

Please tell me why.....

1. Submariner Ref. 5512
2. Submariner Ref. 5513
3. GMT Master Ref. 1675

Thanks....

I think these are within your range and would be my order of preference.

1. 1675 Radial
2. 5513 Maxi MKI dial
3. 5512

GMT 1675 - more function than a Submariner, more color and more character.

Would a 5513 Maxi Dial cost more than a 5513 Serif or Non-Serif? If so, is it simply because it is relatively "newer" or because the maxi dial itself looks better?

Would a Maxi MK V cost less than a MK 1? Assuming both pieces are in good shape. Just curious.

Please be patient with me.....

I'm new with the vintage Rolex....

What the different with the 1675 Radial & 1675 non Radial....??

Pictures for comparison would be great...

Is there any love for the Non Serif or Serif Dial dial for the 5512 or 5513....??

Any input will be greatly appreciated....

Sam's watch shown above is a radial and mine below is not. Notice the difference between the hour plots.

The plots are more distanced from the markers?

That's it. Looks like Sam also has an all red GMT hand (very nice!) on his GMT. Radial dials are much more rare.

Until you point that out, I was struggling to see the differences. So subtle! Thanks for pointing out. Cheers, KY.

If you do not own any submariner then I would go with the 5512/5513. If you have one then the 1675. But to be honest with those three choices you can't lose. All great references worth owning. Best wishes on the hunt.

I own the 1675 and the 5513 (and a 1016 and 16550, heaven help me) and about the only thing I'd say here is the 1675 doesn't have a quickset date, making it a PITA to deal with. I tend to wear mine only a few days a month rather than spend five minutes cranking that crown to get the date right whenever it's time to wear it.

If you're going for a daily wearer I think the 1675 is more interesting than the 5513, but you can't lose with either. I find whichever Rolex I happen to be wearing becomes my favourite for the day!

Best of luck with your purchase

Thank you guys...!!!

Thank you guys for all the great advices.....

Now the only problem is hunting for 1 of those watch, which won't be easy.....

There will be many more questions when I find the right one....

Hopefully you guys will able to help me pick the right one without getting rip off.....

There so many thing to learn about the vintage Rolex, which I'm not use to....

Unlike the newer Rolex is easier to know what to look for....

Looking forward to be part of the vintage Rolex crowds soon.....!!

Best Regards,
Tony

^^^^^ This. I was actually looking for a 5512, but came across this meters first 5513 (with original guarantee and service papers) and grabbed it instead.

Agree that u can't lose with either. That said if quick set is important to u, then get a 16750 with matte dial. Problem solved.

Note that there are very few 1975-1977 watches out there for some reason so if you are sure about sticking to this serial range you could have a long wait for the right watch. Personally for me I'd go for 5513 over 5512 unless gilt model. But in the end whichever turns up in the right condition, just jump on it.

Is there anything special for those years.....??.....

Thanks in advance.....

I think the speculation was that those were bad yrs for mechanical watches due to the introduction of Quartz?

I blame it on the autoconnect.
