Rolex 6098 36mm watch

So I am torn between a 1601 DJ and this 6098. However I do not know too much about vintage Rolex. Not sure if this is the pre-explorer model, and will future RSC service be a concern with this watch? I'm hoping to get more info regarding this timepiece.

What I know...
Rolex 6098
SN: 72X,XXX
Crown has "+" symbol (Brevet?)
Original untouched Dial
36mm
20mm lug

Nice clean original lumeless model, i'd take a 6098 over 1601. Future RSC service would be a problem, but plenty of amazing independents on the forum could handle that when the time comes.

The 1601 is a great watch, but they're quite common compared to the 6098. Overall it's a personal preference though. You can probably go abit longer between services with the DJ as well

You have to watch with vintage and the RSC, as far as I know they are spotty with pre-1980 watches. If I were you id either call Rolex.
