Opinions on this 16750 matte dial GMT

Hi, i'm thinking of getting a 16750 GMT, I would like a few opinions on it. I can't quite tell of the dial and hand lume plots match. There doesn't appear to be much patina but the price isn't as high as those with creamy plots. can anyone advice? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum!

Looks like a very nice GMT. The pictures are not the greatest and difficult to judge. The hands appear to have been replaced but hard to tell if they may even be luminova. The hands on these models are "usually" replaced, redone/repainted, etc.

The back of the case looks very clean!

What is the partial serial?

I'm not sure about the serial number but this watch was made in the early 80's as you probably know. Ideally I'd like a nice patina but those watches seem to go for a 50% premium! This one is $5600

As with every watch, do your homework.

Check on the service history, how it is running, or if a service is needed..

Good luck!

Thank you! Another pic of the dial, the seller says the hands are original.

Probably late 70s. Look at he dial and compare to the threads here. 5,600 is not bad if all original

This is ref 16750 with the quickset date, production was between 1981 and 1983 with the matte dial then until 1989 with WG surrounds

Looks fine to me. Should be wary 80's. Serial? Also beware the 16750 hands have a greater propensity for corrosion. I had to have mine stabilized. 5600 is a good price. The creamy lume will run you $2k more!

Introduced during late 1979 and continued production through 1983 into 1984 where there is a mix of matte and glossy dials. Lowest case number I have seen is 6.2 million.

I am new and curious about this watch? Its been mentioned that the hands are replacements. I agree. What about the dial is it original and untouched? It seems pretty white to me?

I wear a GMT 16750 matte dial every day and the dial is white also and so are the hands.

The dial on the watch of your concern looks fine based on the photos. As far as the hands go, don't give it a second thought. If they were replaced or relumed, it was done so for a reason. Nothing worse than a decent vintage watch with a set of ratty old holds distracting from the beauty of an otherwise decent watch.
