Vintage rolex watches in japan
On a recent trip to Tokyo, Japan, I managed to visit some stores in the Shinjuku area that carries vintage watches and saw a lot of nice Rolexes. I was permitted to take a few pictures which I would like to share below:
Rolex 5513 MilSub $45K [/IMG] Rolex 1680 Red with box & papers $15K [/IMG] Rolex Explorer II with cream dial $11.5K [/IMG] |

$11.5k for a polar Explorer II? Even with that really nice cream fade, that price sounds crazy to me!
I was in Tokyo a few months back and went looking at watches too. Went to the place that Hodinkee visited about a year back and to another good shop in a large mall. Some cool stuff. |

Some say that they are ready to pay a lot more than here ... What heats up prices!

There is so much vintage Rolex on the market at the moment, especially the more common references I do wonder about the prices. The excitement of the 'hunt' is diminished by the easy availability especially through some of the well known second hand watch dealers. One dealer told me Rolex would have made 10x more Pepsi 1675's than Root Beer 1675's yet prices are about the same. So it's s bit hard to work out.
