There was a GTG in Beverly Hills in January organized by mruhland31. I think he's also organized previous GTG's. Here's a trip report from that event. Several of those same members may also attend. Post a place and time frame and see where it goes from there. I may attend like the previous event if I'm in town. Cheers!

The boutiques at South Coast Plaza are always throwing small events throughout the year, some invite-only and some open. e.g. Montblanc is having an open event tomorrow night from 6pm to 9pm IIRC to show off some new pieces. They have their Perpetual Calendar at the South Coast boutique right now (just happened to walk in the store and they had it). OMEGA in South Coast is going to do a small watchmaker event when they finally get their in-boutique technician certified which should be in a couple more months.

The WatchTime Inside Basel event is in LA in Sept: http://www.watchtime.com/event/ibg/

If you attend IBG once or get on the WatchTime events mailing list, their event coordinator often sends out notices if there's an event in SoCal. e.g. Last year on the day of the 2013 WatchTime IBG event, WatchTime sent me an invite to go to JLC Beverly Hills before the show and the boutique manager took us out to lunch at an Italian place the next block over. Last December, WT sent me an invite for a Westtime AP event.

Subscribe to the A Blog To Watch facebook page, twitter, and Instagram accounts, and frequent the site. Ariel Adams is here in LA and on occasion he coordinates with boutiques throwing events to get some extra invites for ABTW readers. Last year I went to Westtime for viewing and dinner presentation for GP watches.

So in terms of events, there's a lot going on considering we have so many watch boutiques in SoCal, particularly in LA and OC. You just have to do a little networking.

As far as get-togethers, I went to the aforementioned Beverly Hills meetup last Jan. It's was nice to meet a bunch of TRF folks, especially to find out a lot of us have common non-watch interests. It would be really cool if SoCal had some sort of NYC Red Bar equivalent with a meetup every month or every other month. I'd be totally down for that.

I would be happy to organize an Orange County GTG if there was enough interest!

Great info above and really hope there's another GTG at Beverly Hills!
I'd definitely be in on an OC one as well. If anyone knows of any events or is organizing one let's post it.

OC would be nice. South Coast Plaza has several boutiques (including Rolex, of course), and they have some decent eateries in the mall (and a Karl Strauss brewing just a couple blocks away).

Then there's Fashion Island in Newport Beach which would be a nice meetup spot, andhas Traditional Jewelers who is a Rolex AD. But TJ is also an AD for AP, ALS, JLC, IWC, OMEGA, Panerai, Breitling, Cartier, Bell and Ross, Patek, and a few other brands I'm probably missing. They just moved to a bigger retail space a week or two ago, too. You all should check that place out if you haven't been there before.

While I'm all for seeing shops, I think a casual get together at a bar or restaurant would be a nice, and informal way to get together and meet fellow peeps of the local WIS scene.
If this appeals to you, please PM me and we will see what will work

And I'm down for an OC GTG.

Maybe we could coax Patrick (OCROLEXGUY) or Tony (JUSTROLEXES) to swing by with some a couple of pieces.

Oh, and if Vanessa shows I'm buying her a drink!

So most TRF'ers want a GTG in OC

A few in LA

And some in San Diego

Not easy if you ask me . . .

So what place do we agree on ?

And next question . . . where, when and who will arrange it ?
