PAM 422 or PAM 232

I am in the very fortunate position of being able to buy either of these beautiful watches, for a very similar price .... but I just can`t decide which to go for

Could any of you fine, knowledgable people help me make an extremely difficult decision ?

I can try

I had a 232. Great watch and awesome lume. The straps are a pain (for me) to change, but the fit is superb. I see the 422's (and 372's) at my local AD. The power reserve indicator on the back is cool. I personally don't like the "fake" faux patina on the markers. But that is just me. If you could tell us what other PAM's you have, it would help. If you have other luminors, then I would say 232. It is harder to get a nice 232 than a 422 if that helps. Either way you can't go to wrong. Good luck!

Thanks for that. I don`t own any PAM at the moment. I did have a PAM 177, but flipped it a couple of years back.

I`ve always wanted another Panerai though & the itch needs to be scratched.

I love the 47mm and I`ve narrowed it down to either a 422 or a 232. I think I prefer the bulkier 422 with the crown guard ... but then I see the simple beauty of the 232 ... It`s never ending

Your 232 looks stunning

Nice 422

Nice 422 "thatguy" I do like how the markers look in the sun light. I would say get the 422 if he has the wrists to pull it off. But the 232 has it's plus's. Either way you can't go wrong.
232= more dressier/sleeker
422= more casual/sporty
(IMHO)

Can't go wrong either way. For me, the 232 is one of the icons of the brand and pretty much perfection. I would love one some day. The 422 is really nice, too, but for a Luminor, I think I prefer 44 over 47. But, that's all just personal preference. You can't lose with either. Good luck with the choice and looking forward to the incoming!

I would go for the 422, but then I much prefer Luminors to Radiomirs

232. If we were talking 372 vs 232 that would be a tougher call.

Is 372 an option?

It would be the perfect middle ground between the two.

Both very nice, i favor the 232 but the strap changing is a bit of a pain compared to a luminor.

The 422 is the nicest offering Panerai has had in years.

Too many amazing features.

Both are fantastic. I recently saw the 422 in person for the first time and was really impressed. 422 gets my vote.

As mentioned, you may also want to consider the ability to quickly change straps.

Good luck - you can't go wrong.

Best watch ever....
Most under valued Panerai too....

Thin, wears smaller but has that big, big sexy face.

6497 movement. Yeah, in house elitists don't like it, but this thing works and can be serviced for $150. Wear the hell out of it.

Wear the hell out of it? Yes, it actually looks great with scratches. I'm serious (don't put them there intentionally). A scratch on a Patek stands out poorly, on a 232.....looks perfect. Hard to explain.

THE perfect shade of brown. Impossible to capture in pictures, but trust me. Doesn't look like it it trying to fake anything.

232 is a great alternative if you can't afford (or find) this:

It's got to be the 232 for me. If it's a crown guard your wanting though and a bit more chunk and you can cope with fake patina.........372
