I am new to the forum and I am in need of some assistance. I do t know where to post or if it is even appropriate to post. But I received a watch as a gift and I don't know enough about rolex to make a determination whether it is a real watch or a fake. I have done some research on my own but I am still undetermined.

I'm also "newly" here - ie. beginning to contribute.. although I've been a longtime "lurker". I'd post some pics to have other members chime in! Perhaps a new thread in the rolex General discussion section :D

Cheers

Also got the message from CPZorro. Seemed related to a thread I'd just commented on so he got me... changed my login info immediately though. Hopefully that prevents anything crazy from happening with my account.

CPZorro has been banned.

Good looking out, folks. The scammer is probably after you, as 2024 pledge members. He would use your account to post a fake sale ad.

You should turn on 2 Factor Authentication for additional protection.

2 Factor Authentication

If you don't want to click on the link above, go to the Announcements/feedback & Support subforum. The 2FA thread is a sticky at the top of that forum.

Didn't realize this was an option for TRF, turned on immediately. Appreciate you pointing it out!

Hello, is this a spam or a genuine email? There’s something weird about it and I’ve never received emails from Rolexforums regarding this issue. I didn’t click on the link but was wondering what you guys think.

Do not click the link. I agree that there is something weird. Steve would not use such poor English.

I believe the link appears to be the TRF 2024 Pledge request but everyone should use the TRF thread itself to donate rather than a link in a poorly worded email.

Exactly, the English is what made me doubt the email. The link details are correct but I didn't click on it just incase...
I hope Steve can tell us more about this issue? Thanks

There’s not much to tell - it’s a classic Email Spoofing.

A spammer sends an email using an email address in the From field to make it LOOK like it came from a trusted source.

The odd thing is that the email is from admin@rolexforums.com

My question is, did the forum’s admin email get hacked?

Only Steve can answer that question.

I was explaining Spoofing which doesn’t involve hacking the email server.

The simplest thing:
Never click a link in an email, a PM, or a post on any forum. Go to the secure website to pledge for 2024.

Why is it that spammers are such atrocious spellers? I sometimes get dozens of emails warning me I’m about to lose access to something, the grammar and spelling is so bad I am amazed anyone would fall for them. If said messages make it to my inbox I block the address to keep it from coming back.

Seems someone is testing a robo spamming code string. There are other posts by another bot.

Might be time for a better automated Turing test for new members first 20 posts.

Hello,

I am new here and about to make my first purchase for a Rolex watch from a member on the forum and you have been selected as one of his ref which is why i am writing you. So i was curious and thought it would be worth the due diligence.

Here is the link to his post

(There is a web link that I don't want spread further)

Also I had to reset my password as my regular password did not work. That is something really weird as I knew my password to the forum
