I love my LV Sub. I also love the fact that most people I run into have never even seen one.
I wear it with anything and I have received many compliments. |

The question is: Would I buy it? Probably NO!! I love it but I'd still rather pay a little extra and buy the TT Daytona.....yes, I do have soft corner for TT watches....but the LV is a cracker....of that there's absolutely no doubt!!

Rolex 16610 LV Submariner Green Bezel
Is this watch worth buying as it is selling beyond it's recommended sales price?

Not really green
I have to agree with JJ on this one. The green bezel doesn't float my boat and I think the maxi dial is out of balance with the dimension of the case.
The price of an LV in Australia is also hugely above a 16610. About 28% more I think. To me, Rolex have lost the plot in this commemorative model for 50 years with its lurid bezel and disproportionate lumen. The normal Sub is timeless in design and the appearance is more refined. Why couldn't they just use the green on the words the same way they coloured the lettering of the much desiredRED Submariner. Subtle and classy that is! Like JJ says, a bit more cash will get you a Daytona. Now that is a beautiful watch. Also, I notice the Replicators LOVE the LV almost as much as the Pepsi GMT. Steve |

I see that's your very first post, so a big welcome to TRF. As to your question....well, it's all entirely up to you. Personally, I quite like the watch as I have seen it in person; but I wouldn't pay anything extra than $300 over the price of the normal 16610...and even then it's a bit of a rip off. The maxi dial does make a difference, especially in the dark as there is better luminosity, but as for the green bezel....well, I think most guys prefer the black; but again, it's a personal choice. The LV is worth it if you aren't paying more than $300 over and above the price of the Sub-date. Your call....good luck. Cheers - JJ

John,
Welcome to TRF! I have thought about it and IMO I will not pay more than a few hundred more for the LV than a Sub, the differences are not worth the cost to me. I have my eye on the future value and I'm not sure the LV will have that classic appeal that a Sub would have... perhaps I would own both, but I'll get a Sub or SD first. Of course if you decide it's worth that to you than no one can tell you that you are wrong buddy, cause it's your $$$ and your preferences that matter to you right? Let me know what you decide...

Not easy to get. Called all over the country and could not find one. Most of the AD's said they don't display them they go to high ranking customers.
At some point, they will be discontinued, and the price will be set by the demand that collectors will be willing to pay. President Rolex |
