News From Oslo: I'm Going To Be A Grandfather

My middle daughter Skyped us yesterday from her home in Oslo. She took a Swedish pregnancy test, and it said "Gravid." She and her husband should be back in the United States in April (he plays hockey in Oslo) and now the question is whether they will go back next season and deliver in Europe or stay in the States and sign a contract here. This will be my first grandchild, and though I can't wrap my head around being a grandfather (my grandpa was bald, fat and 75 forever, it seemed) I'm really excited for them.

Here is Garrett and Emily. My little girl is going to be a mom. Hard to believe.....

Frugal to a fault, even though he makes way more money than I do, they purchase their groceries and supplies in Sweden, an hour away, rather than buy them in the most expensive city in the world. I would have loved to watch them using Google translator to find out what "gravid' meant.

Takk! They live on Bogstadveien just north and west of the Royal Palace and absolutely love Oslo and the Norwegian people. Of course, her ancestry is a quarter Norwegian and a quarter Swedish, so she fits in well.

I'd redo that test, anything made in Sweden could be faulty

In any case tillykke morfar

Congrats.

Although i am sure you would prefer them to be in the States, think how great it would be to go over to Oslo for a couple of weeks when the baby is born. Also, wouldn't he get EU citizenship automatically???

Norway is not in the EU, so that'll be a no. In addition, being born in a country is not of itself a reason to gain citizenship, especially in European countries.

Congratulations on your great news!
