I think the most common answer you'll receive will be PRICE, followed by CONVENIENCE.

And also selection. You can find BLNR, Hulk, SS Daytona, etc here whereas some AD in some location will have a hard time sourcing you one. Some that I've used in the past are Takuya (Thanh), DavidSW and justrolexes (Tony).. just to name a few.

DavidSW, Tempoking, and OCRolexGuy also come very highly in my book too. I recently ( like two days ago lol ) just made a purchase from DavidSW. He is absolutely fantastic, quick with e-mails, knows his stuff, has a GREAT inventory, and very trustworthy. I would buy from ANY of those three mentioned. DavidSW tops my list though ! There are hundreds of very happy people here on TRF, thanks to the major three ( and others too ! ) guys mentioned here.

Why buy from these guys? First of all they are well connected. They have the ability to source you a watch that some ADs don't have or have to wait months for to get. BLNR, Hulk, Stainless Daytona for example. Great pricing, usually much better than AD especially on Stainless sport models. No sales tax, no brainer there!. Fed Ex delivered right to your door overnight. Simple. Painless. No ADs for me ever again other than to look and tire kick. I will buy from here.

Some are willing to do trades wereas AD are often not. I had a flawless trade transaction with Alfred aka FNFZ4 last year for a new in box piece. The watch arrived overnight, was perfect, and I made a new friend in the watch community.

Price, convenience, and selection. Especially if you are looking for a certain dial on a PM watch. It took DavidSW a week to source this watch when my AD told me up to three months.

Takuya (Thanh Do) absolutely the best. I have done several deals with him. Always flawless, highly professional and has exactly what you want . His prices can't be beat.

Cheers!

Price, convenience, and often the ability to source watches that are not easily available to the average person walking into an AD.

For me it was all of the above. I contacted Davidsw for a watch that was not easy to get because it was a new model. He was able to find it unreasonably fast. Couldn't really ask for more.

I have bought from Davidsw and Oscar AKA Bodybump. Flawless deals with both. A good friend has bought from Takuya and Tony AKA justrolexes. Again, flawless deals.

There are plenty of great sellers on this forum!

Look around and check the Who's who section. Also, feel free to ask on the same section if they are recommended once you find something of your liking. I am sure you will be pleased..

Yes, but be aware that not all sellers are alike.

Some deal more in vintage vs new or like new. Some only sell complete sets but others have bare nekked watches if the box doesn't mean much to you.

As for the reasons, I find a better long-term bond with the best trusted sellers here. It's also a no pressure cruise through more Rolexes in an hour than you'd see in a dozen days at ADs. And let's face it - some AD saletrons are pretentious. None of that here in my experience.
