233 vs 557 whats your pick?

I am just curious whats the overall consensus choosing between 233 vs 557. If you have to pick one whats your choice and why. Thanks for your responds and I appreciate the knowledge sharing and community. More power to TRF.

Between these two, 233. It's my favorite 44mm Panerai.

That's a tough one!

If push came to shove, I'd go 233 for the dome, GMT, quick strap change system and 44 size. I also happen to prefer the font size and style, too.

Definitely the 233 for me. I'm not a huge Panerai fan but that is one of the models that I really do like.

Could you possibly find two, more diverse PAMs, to compare...? LOL;)))

557 vs. 233
Base vs. complications
47mm vs. 44mm
Destro vs. regular
pillowcase vs. classic 1950 case
Vintage vs. standard lume
brass vs. stainless hands
straight-plexi vs. curved-sapphire dome
Pre-V vs. vintage type (letters)
Less vs. more produced

About the only two traits both have in common are in-house mvmts and sapphire backs.

With that out of the way, my choice would be the 233 and the "why" can be answered with everything that I underlined above. The characteristics which I didn't underline are more or less equal to me (I own both a 47 and 44mm PAM, etc.)

Is it (would it be) your first / only PAM? How does 47mm work for you? Do you prefer the clean (and vintage) look of a base? And so on.

Hi Traveller,
Thanks for your reply. I currently own 425 and 557 all base. Part of me want to add some complication thus thinking of 233. I need to unload either one to fund the 233. So narrowed it down to base and complication piece and that will cover my PAM collection. Im still on the edge on what piece to unload. Thank you for the detailed reply. I appreciate it.

I want both! Two of my favorite PAMs, but for completely different reasons.
