Near-term availability of Spectre Seamaster 300

I know this is a loaded question, but what do you think about the future of the new Spectre model in terms of availability and value? I thinking I want to get one, but am not keen on paying retail (which is basically the only option now) but I'm also concerned if I wait until it's come down or forum dealers have it, they might have already been all snapped up by collectors.

I know it's hard to predict, but I can't really get a read on previous 007 models, plus IMO this is the best one they've ever done in terms of being much more subtle/etc.

Will normal ADs get these or will they be boutique only?

Hard to tell. My thoughts: get one now. The future is uncertain.

Hard to tell but based on past Omega LE's that # in the 1000's, I doubt it will be too hard to find one in a year or so, maybe even sooner. My guess on the price would be well under list by then too.

Normal AD's are getting these in. Mine has had 3 so far, and has one left which has not sold in 3 weeks. I tried it on yesterday.

I too would like to pick this one up but they wouldn't budge off price and I have no interest in paying list for this piece so I am going to find one either new at a discount or used a bit down the road. Don't forget there are 7007 of these out there, not exactly limited imo.

My AD has one. Have not asked about price as I am not ready to buy right now. But he is an Omega guy and seems to think that 7007 pieces will keep the availability there down the road at a discount. I am waiting for his silver snoopy to come in though.

At 7007 I think you're ok - not incredibly limited.

Once the hype of the movie dies out, they will be tougher to move.
And with the mixed reviews, it will not be as frenetically sought after as if it were a Casino Royal level movie...

Although it did lay a pivotal role in the film...what it does makes it a movie prop, and to me abolishes any claims of "screen Accuracy"...

I think the Nato Straps are going to sell like crazy... but after a few weeks more, left over Spectre SM300 will probably sit until discounted...

In the long run, in terms of design, the original SM300 is much more timeless, and will be a better watch to have...

Tried it on the other day and really liked it. Time to shake up the watch box!

Local won't budge off price and my two other sources cannot get one. My last source has one coming and will give me a nice , albeit not huge, discount off. Knowing that Omegas usually and unfortunately take a huge bath on depreciation, should I take my own advice and wait a year and get one at 30-40-50 off? OR should I get it next week at a grand off?

Thoughts?

7007 sounds like a lot of units but exactly how many are allotted to each country.

Two of my locals (who didn't have the watch in stock) told me that the US is getting only 300 of the SPECTRE watches which I took with a grain of salt.

A third dealer had one left in stock so I pulled the trigger and bought it last night. No discount, just the sales tax removed. I'm happy with it

There will be over 7000 of these out there. Why overpay? Wait a bit and they'll be plentiful.

Only 300 shipping to the US sounds awfully low. Considering the market for both the film and the watch, I would have thought more like 3,000. But who knows?

My little local AD has seen 3 in a month and they are small potatoes. 300 or so US Omega dealers. Figuring US OB's will get more than 3 and ADs at least one(in my case 3 so far) I would guess US will get at least 2 or 3 thousand. I located 2 on west coast today in 4 phone calls and both offered me 10 off over the phone.

Guys, there are 7000 of them out there. That is a lot of watches among a sea of $7K watches. Its a lot of money to spend.

The normal production SM300 is already available at 30+ off list NIB.

Don't believe the hype, you will be able to buy one of these less than a year from now at a substantial discount. Of course, if you want it now and don't mind spending the coin, by all means pick one up. Life is short

I think the ones that last through Christmas will end up being discounted. I was at the Omega boutique on Friday, some guy wearing a two tone Sub came in, tried it on and purchased it all in 10 minutes. Fastest watch purchase I have ever seen.

All of the dealers I visited had the "other" Bond watch in stock, the AT with the coat of arms in the dial. That model will definitely see significant discounts in the future. I don't think anyone is buying them.

Ugh...I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get one. I'll probably be making the wrong call, but I can see it being 6 months from now and they're long sold out and demanding a premium. Which probably means if I buy at retail they'll be 40% off by February. Sigh.

There is a certain factor having the watch while the movie is still hot in the theaters.

Well I went shopping yesterday and was able to see one in the metal at the Omega boutique. Awesome watch. It was the last one they had-the sales person said they've sold quite a few. He also told me that there are only 4 left in the country per their inventory system-I'm assuming that means from a boutique perspective.

Looks like I've probably missed my window. Unfortunately at full retail + tax it is a bit out of my reach at the moment so I couldn't pull the trigger, and by the time I have the cash it looks like it will be too late. Oh well. The non-Spectre is also cool, just not AS cool.

Patience. Between this forum and Timezone, I was able to spot extremely limited models available second hand (think Grand Seiko). Just wait and you will get a specimen you like. Btw, a 007 model is not a mil spec Sub. There will be plenty.

Yeah but I'm done buying used watches, except models that are long out of production and otherwise unattainable BNIB.

I think I'm going to move my Deepsea to make room for a Spectre while I still can.

If you REALLY want a new one, contact one of the trusted sellers here.

If that's meant to be a slight because I don't want to buy from a "trusted" seller I think it's unnecessary. If it's a slight because I want one in general then it's also unnecessary. I was just asking opinions and I've gotten them, but having now spoken to Omega directly (the "horse's mouth" as it were) I've decided I'm getting one as soon as I can swing it-hopefully before they're all gone. If they're gone then they are.

It's your money. Do as you please... But you better hurry because they will be gone soon before they are discounted... Good luck!

According to the person I talked to at the boutique, the US only got 1200 of them.

Try finding the Skyfall Planet Ocean of which there were 5007, I managed to find two, both over list price. Also, as some have suggested, why would the U.S. get 3000, almost half the production run? Is it likely that Omega only left the other 4000 for the rest of the world? There are lots of other large watch buying countries and continents out there, Europe and China both buy far more luxury watches than the U.S. If you listed every country that bought luxury watches and allocated based on population and purchasing numbers 300 for the U.S. might be quite realistic.

The US is the second largest market for swiss watches behind Asia. The US buys far more swiss watches than all of Europe and sales in Asia have taken a huge hit last couple years. On the order of 30+ %. While the US barely ticked down.

I would suspect the US is getting somewhere around 25% of the Bonds. I am in Vegas this weekend and every dealer has 2 Spectres in stock. I saw them and asked about them.. I also called 5 random dealers last week looking for one as I'd rather not pay list and all 5 had one. 3 of them offered 10% right off the bat. These are not hard to find if you do a little homework. Don't call boutiques, call AD's. They have them. I picked one up and it will be here midweek.

Well in 2012 the U.S. took 10% of Swiss watches while Europe took 30% so you may be a little out.
