Hi all,
Just got my new gmtiic yesterday, so exciting! As I was looking at it closely and looking at the laser etched crown on the crystal, I noticed what looks like a couple of tiny bubbles in the glass. Thought it might have been something I could wipe off, but nope. I think I saw someone else post something about this in the past, but a search revealed no results. I'm assuming that I could get this replaced at the AD I bought it from, right? After all, it's new and I would like it to be perfect....Thanks guys and gals.

Just don't rub the crown off

Totally unlikely of having bubbles in the glass, post some pics of it if You can

If it's truely a defect in the crystal, take it back to the AD and see what they say..
If they agree it's a defect, it may need to be sent to RSC for a replacement if they don't have an onsite watch tech.

I was trying to take a couple of pictures, but I only have an iPhone camera that doesn't even come close to working well enough....these "bubbles" are tiny, but I can see them without a magnifying glass or anything. Just have to look close and at the right angle. Hope I'm not losing it.

Take it back to the AD. Maybe, its just residue or crap inside the crystal. They can wipe it off, pressure test it and and give it back to you within 30 minutes.

Can certainly see the LEC with a flashlight shining from the right direction!

I had an issue with a "bubble" on the crystal of my TT GMT 2 years ago. They are under the crystal and are actually NOT bubbles, it is a chip on the crystal. Mine came this way from Role and my AD actually just swapped it out for me... I would take it in right away as if could take issue with water getting in too...Sorry. I will find a pic for you and see if it is the same.... Gimme a sec

I wouldn't be too happy to send my watch to RSC. just the thought of several weeks watchless is giving me hives...

Thanks for the help. The photo Mortgage guy posted doesn't look like what I have on my crystal, though. I did try to get a few pics with my iPhone, no joy. What I have is like a couple of tiny perfect circles smaller than the LEC. I'll bring it back to the AD and see what they say. Thanks!

I don't think they are "bubbles" per se...because I don't think the sapphire is made like glass (which could have bubbles in it). My vote would be that it's some kind of residue on the inside of the crystal.

It was some tiny 'crud' stuck on the crystal. Somehow my wife was able to wipe if off even though I wasn't (believe me, I tried...for hours!). All's well that ends well.

my Panerai when viewed on certain angles looked to have miniscule bubbles in the crystal

Reminds me of the time I took my Fortis B42 Marinemaster to a local watch dealer see what they'd give me for a trade in. When they had the watchmaker check it out, the verdict was that my sapphire crystal was scratched and that was going to drop the value, since they'd have to repair it. I took it home and looked at it, and there were some marks that wouldn't run off. I then tried soap and water, and whatever it was disappeared. No scratches at all. I ended up selling the watch for twice what that dealer was willing to give me. Of course, now I have lost all faith I'm that watch shop.

I just bought a used rolex. Now I noticed that there’s a tiny white sphere right next to the date under the bubble. What could this mean?

That's how the LEC is formed by the laser making the Rolex emblem in the through the crystal width.

13 years ago the OP's wife cleaned his watch crystal properly and the "tiny bubbles" disappeared.

A new member resurrected this thread.

While I welcome him to the forum, I suggest he clean his crystal better and the problem may "dissolve".
