Icon3 My New GMT II (M2 serial - Rectangle font)

If you recall, recently I sold off both of my GMT's. I immediately regretted the sale and decided to pick up another one with (hopefully) the 3186 inside. I picked up the the GMT that was of some discussion on Timezone earlier for its rectangular II dial font (different from the normal 'stick' or 'roman'). Unfortunately, my cell phone simply doesn't hack it with any type of close-up shots and my new room's lighting is crazy to say the least...so here are some quick and dirty snaps.

I'm still on the market for one more piece - who knows what the future will bring.

and just for reference's sake (not my pic):

Great looking watch. You'll love it. I have the same font for my II. I don't know if it's unique or not....I love it just the same.

congrats

Scott
Congrats on finding what you want.
Even though it is an "M" serial does not guaranteee a 3186 movement
Did you crack the caseback off to see the movement?

the 16710 is discontinued, these are just some left over new old stock watches that you see here.some "m" serial number 16710" were made, with the crb(rlx, rlx, rlx) as well.

congrats on the new pepsi,is it a "z" or "m" serial number?

etp,

With all due respect, you've seen this with your own eyes? Or perhaps you could provide the source of your info?

Many thanks.

I am waiting for a new Z serial Coke GMT to be returned to my local AD from Rolex. It has got my name on it and if it is mint I am having it!!
From my research in the UK there are very few of these left, I only found 3 in fact with all of them being Z serials.
Has anyone seen an M serial in the UK?

Cheers, PeterT

It's an M2 serial. Bill, I have not had the back opened up yet, although it passes the 'wiggle' test just fine (I don't live conveniently close to a RSC at the moment).

I bought a "Z" 16710 pepsi late last year and just happened to be at the AD when the rolex rep was in as well. He told me that there was a better than even chance that the watch has a panachrom main spring, fyi

BTW, this is the best rolex for travel, the newer model is not as desirable to me for a variety of reasons. The GMT II has a more modest and a most serious and purposeful impression.

And I think it's more recognizable to a wider audience as a rolex with a purpose than my SS Daytona is...

cheers!

And it has the non-serif numeral II and the right "I" of the pair is not fully printed at the bottom....
