Show Your Battle-Scars!!

Ok, so I haven't worn this watch in a way to incur battlescars like this, but it has been worn this way in the past. I chose to preserve the original dings, nicks, and scratches at the restoration.

How about you?? Any well-worn watches out there??

Leave it. It all tells its story of doing work before it was retired to the easy life. Very cool.

Great pics Jason. Looks like your watch has some battle scars for sure.

Here is my Tudor MN '79. Not sure whether the dent on the side is from some military conflict or a pub brawl. Either way I'm sue it would be interesting.

Daydreams:

As you roll across the plains in your M1, the opposition force tank company crests the hill and the lead tank takes a shot, glancing off the sloped armour face of your turret, disabling the laser range finder. Your quick thinking of a precisely placed stainless steel smack to the side of the fire control computer instantly resets the system and within milliseconds, displays the correct range to target. “Target, Tank, crest of the hill…” You see the glow of the battle lantern reflect of the new, small gash on the side of your Sub and you let out a little grin. It is, after all, a “toolwatch”.

Reality:

The copier machine toner in Document Control has emptied again and IT is offsite at a training seminar. Boss wants those TPS coversheets, STAT! But there is no toner cartridge left in the supply closet. Your quick thinking prompts the pulling of the used toner cartridge out with a quick shake that you know will loosen just enough of the tiny laser activated toner particles to print the TPS Cover Sheet. Inadvertently your arm swings a little far and your trusty Submariner glances off the steel handle of the nearby large format Paper Guillotine, leaving a small gash on your watch and a cringe on your face.

I'd go with a military brawl in a pub, with a beautiful girl in the story :)

My 5513 has surely seen some action in a previous life. I wonder if the chunks taken out of the crown and crown guard occurred at the same time.

This bezel has seen its share of battle scars:

My snowflake and big block are unpolished and have a few nice "beauty marks" as I'd like to refer to them as...

Had this from new in '86 so they're all mine. Gave it to my daughter last year. Polished twice at services, last one in 2001. I've always worn my watch on my right wrist so there's more scratches on left side.

I have one with the same case dent. Maybe they were in the same pub fight

My 1680 used to be my brothers and he used it a lot when diving, it has a few scars here and there. The crown had to be opened with a monkey wrench once ha told me...

When you strike for unmolested cases you need to embrace the scars. 1979 16800......used......very used.

The most scratched up case in this thread is a million times better looking to me than the rounded blobs that seem to be coming to market more frequently.
