INCOMING Rolex GMT Master II BLRO Pepsi Magic!

I have been thinking about the GMT Master BLRO for nearly five years, but I had yet to pull the trigger. Why? I already owned the BLNR on Jubilee and certainly it would not be worth the extra $$ for the exact same watch with a different colored bezel...absolutely not..nice try, Rolex!

However, it wasn’t that easy. I simply could not get the BLRO out of my mind. Every time I looked down at my BLNR (which is gorgeous in its own right) the intrusive thoughts continued to lurk in the back of my mind…

Am I settling for a lesser GMT somehow? Is the BLRO more iconic or somehow truer to the history of the brand and “Rolex DNA”?

Most importantly, which color scheme do I personally like better? In a hypothetical world, if there was no hype, If the BLNR and BLRO were just two watches, priced exactly the same and readily available, which one would I choose? The obvious choice of course is the BLNR…the colors are less polarizing and with a more neutral blue/black color scheme it is more versatile and just as beautiful, right?

With my birthday rapidly approaching, I finally decided I needed to see the BLRO in person to finally put the matter to bed once and for all. On Tuesday, the FedEx driver dropped off the box and when I opened the lid, it was magic!

The colors are so dynamic and change dramatically in different lighting conditions…more than any other Rolex, it is a watch where pictures cannot possibly convey the experience of handling one in person.

The red GMT hand, the beautiful deep blue and natural red on the bezel, the connection to history, and then it hit me…for me, this is the most special watch that Rolex has created since the 6-digit references were released.

This one just feels different. Many of the other Rolex I have owned through the years have been beautiful, rugged, and even iconic…but with each new purchase, I was always thinking about the next one. With the BLRO on the wrist, I am starting to wonder when any of my other watches will even get any wrist time. After five years of sitting on the fence, I finally “get it” and I am thrilled!

I can attest, been wearing the BLRO most of this year. It’s a tough one to switch out in rotation.

Congrats. The Pepsi is the king of the GMT line up for good reason. It is simply in a class of its own

Congratulations! A GMT simply has to be a Pepsi, at least in my eyes

Outstanding ! Great shots.
With a large RLX collection, the BLRO and Submariner get the most wrist time.

Cheers

Congratulations. I love the BLRO and I think it goes particularly well with the Jubilee bracelet. No reason why it could not coexist with a BLNR in a collection, although I suppose it depends on the collection.

I purchased a BLNR as placeholder until I acquired a BLRO. Everytime I wore the BLNR I felt like I was wearing a substandard GMT--the CHNR also. Sold both of them to exclusively wear the BLRO. THE most iconic GMT ever!

I also had the BLNR first and loved it but also wanted a BLRO. Like you, I thought really there is only one half a bezel change in terms of color. But in person it’s a whole other reality. The Pepsi os daring and playful and while the BLNR is more down to business. I also have both now and couldn’t be more pleased. I actually also have the all Black LN as well. Each one is its own vibe and I love the three as a set. Congratulations and enjoy! And wait until you get an oyster bracelet to switch between the two!

Haha, I totally get it! It's hard to justify getting the same watch with just a different bezel color. Rolex knows how to tempt us! ️
