Epic fail with butchering the Daytona line. I am in disbelief Rolex could make so many design screw-ups their most perfect watch.

Oh man that metal edge around the bezel is a huge issue for collecting dings and wear marks. IMO….it adds nothing and becomes a liability.
The biggest “fail” is the beautiful organic case lines have been butchered into a now blocky supercase look? ??
A blocky Daytona?

The 11 series Daytona has now become incredibly special and “THE” SS Daytona.

If you scroll down here you can see the new case shape on all their models:

https://www.rolex.com/watches/new-wa...ograph-daytona

It looks very flat, the previous steel Daytona had a very nice curved case, just like the Datejust for example. This new one looks like a Submariner case with the lugs of the precious metal Daytona.

The dial and hands are clearly Zenith, specially on the 2 tone models if you don't pay attention to the position of the subdials it just looks like a vintage Zenith Daytona.

I prefer the older one better, but I have no doubts this will sell like hot cakes.

the old daytona was so much nice why have that ring around the bezel and the markers were better on the old one. But each to there own

after 4 pages... let me sum things up for anyone who hasn't read through

Those who currently own a ceramic steel Daytona : Older gen is better !

Those who don't currently own a Ceramic steel Daytona: New one is better !

Those who already own a ceramic steel Daytona, and have access to AD allotments : I'll get this one too!

Remember thats just digital renders.

Some of the images (like the TT above) show a more curved case.

I think the picture is deceiving, both sides of the case appear to be polished.

Crown protectors are bigger, just as they are on the outgoing PT/ER/WG/Oysterflex cases.

The issue comes from: https://www.rolex.com/watches/new-wa...ograph-daytona

The render that you move around looks very flat on the sides.

Exactly right!! I thought for sure they would have brought out an actual SS Panda so people who keep calling the old one a Panda would be like what now?!

Proportions look identical to the 509 on my wrist Brian. Perfectly symmetrical now.

What's off is that some renders show curved sides, others flatter.

My take is that the flatter side renders are just less detailed. The description talks about "Graceful lines of light are elegantly reflected from the sides of its redesigned middle case"

Thats not something you'd say about a flat sided (Sub or GMT) style case.

surprised by all the hate on the new daytona. I find it infinitely easier to read and like all the changes except i think the bezel is slightly too thin but its a great looking piece by all accounts.

Thanks Scott

The more I stare at it, the more I think the lower right lug still looks elongated.

Could be just that I need to take a break

As I first posted, I thought they looked symmetrical.

White gold and rose gold models the biggest winners IMO. The bracelet end links now match the case which kept me away. Let’s see what the price will be, I don’t play AD games.

Wow this comes off as quite a sour post, attempting to guard the prestige of the model you own.

I also own the 116500 but don't see the new model as a complete mess up, but I'm also not trying to defend my asset.

How so? There were no Zenith-movement Daytonas with ceramic bezels. Zenith Daytonas had balanced, symmetrical sub-dials unlike all modern Daytonas with the in-house movements. Zenith Daytonas had more elegant hands and hour makers. The differences are endless.

Seriously?? I am not gushing so now I am guarding the 11 series. This is huge Daytona news/change. I am being kind compared to what you will be reading and viewing the next few days.

Welcome to the forum. In time you will understand how ridiculous that opinion is of my post and intentions regarding my forum activities and reputation.
