Commercial Season
Take your choice. Between Medicare open enrollment, Camp Lejune, and the worthwhile 901’s( Shriners, St. Jude, T2T, ASPCA, Wounded Warriors, and on and on) that are on 24/7 this time of the year you can’t escape them. It’s just overwhelming IMO.

Regular tv is becoming almost unwatchable for me, in part, due the extent of commercials. Seems they are trying to make up for lost revenue from fewer customers by inundating you with even more commercials which leads to even fewer customers. Terrestrial radio is on the same path.

It’s ALL political ads!!! Mostly on local TV stations. Rapid fire until the election. I tune every one out mentally or with the mute button.

Commercial Season
It’s the political ads that I’m over. I got 3 just at my PO Box today from the same candidate. I checked the box yesterday.
The lawyers drive me nuts too but they’re around 365 days a year so I guess I’m desensitized to them. Some of the charitable ads make me realize I could give more and I’m ok with that. It’s the two minutes long of animals, kids or adults in need that seems a little excessive. I got the gist in 30 seconds, save some of that Ad money for the cause!! Seems like only yesterday when asbestos and mesothelioma were the toasts of the town.
But now with Camp Lejune in town, their phone never rings.

I never watch TV with commercials. Haven't in years. Same with radio. Never use it.
My TV is streamed shows from Prime, Netflix, Hulu etc and my sports is hockey recorded about an hour earlier. Music is my playlists. Sadly it looks like the NHL has been taken over by commercials for gambling sites to help everyone become a gambling addict. Unfortunately I get the start or end of the commercial as I zoom past. I can't stand commercials, or sport pundits or pundits of any kind.

Watch any network news program and you’ll think the entire country suffers from dermatitis, diabetes or asthma. “Ask your doctor about……” I sincerely miss the days when advertising drugs and medical care was taboo.
I frequently look up the price of the advertised drugs for someone without insurance, and the number ranges from several thousand dollars a year to a quarter million a year. |

We only watch shows that we've recorded on DVR so that we can FF through the commercials, unless it's sports of course.
The commercials that bug me most are the pharmaceutical commercials. It's like a puzzle trying to figure out what exactly they're treating.

Being a veteran I have been inundated with Emails and texts about the settlement for camp Lejune, if I were stationed there during a timeframe before I was born and if I have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. For those vets that this actually affects I wish them all they are entitled to, but for the rest of us and the love of humanity, leave us alone.

I think the way it works is a settlement figure is reached and then large law firms employ small firms to qualify people for a piece of the action. And the lawyers walk away with a major part of the settlement. The more people they sign up the more money they make.

I was stationed at Camp Lejeune from July 1969 to December 1969 and again from April 1970 to July 1970.
In my personal opinion, these ads from attorneys to file class-action lawsuits are just a big money grab for lawyers. The VA posts the diseases that are associated with exposure to the toxic chemicals and those who have or develop those diseases have benefits that relate to those disorders. Currently, I don't have any of those diseases and for that I'm grateful. I'm not interested in stuffing the pockets of lawyers to gain pennies on the dollars awarded, even if I had the diseases in question.

All I will add is (1) lawyers cannot accept referral fees, and (2) although I agree that some plaintiff’s attorneys are grossly overpaid, without plaintiff’s attorneys spending money to advertise there would be countless legal claims amounting to $0.00

Have not watched "regular tv" in years. I have not seen a commercial in years at home or on the computer.
Now, I went to my family home and watched "live TV" and I don't know how people do it. |

I concur that these political ads are just way too much.
I read a book - sorry, can't remember the name - by probably Baldacci or Grisham, so fictional but factually based, that described the class action process, how the big firms use smaller firms, etc. Quite fascinating. They have their place and sometimes they do good, but also sometimes they are less concerned with the truth and more about the money. I presume. Allegedly. So I've heard. To the best of my recollection. I try to DVR everything. Sometimes you have no choice but to watch streaming shows that won't let you skip commercials. I hate that.

Dan, Both of my knees were over $225,000 and that was out patient during the height of the flu virus, I didn’t want to spend the night for either operation during that mess. That of course was the Doctor, surgery room, nurses, Anesthesia Doctor and full knee hardware plus probably much more I can’t remember right now. Insurance covered 60 rehabilitation visits each knee, home nurse rehab care for a week on each knee within 3 days after getting home. My only expense was 500.00 deductible total and a chair for the shower, the doctor gave me a week supply of pain medication for the left knee but needed 3 weeks supply for the right knee. Left knee is at 95% range of motion Right knee is about 85% mostly the hamstring area right behind the knee is still bothersome- I wouldn’t have done the right knee so soon ( 4 months ) after the left knee if there was a next time. But overall I can still play golf and that’s a win for me although the right knee slightly swells after golf. The right lower leg also has a plate with 9 screws due to Tibia, Fibula and Talus break in 2004. I’m not sure if that’s the reason or not for minor right leg issue still. I hope you’re at almost full range of motion
