Check me on this.

Here is a Blue TT Sub that has the holed case, but the SEL. At least that is what it looks like to me. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but at least it looks like SEL. Is this combination original from Rolex?

No where in the auction does it state that this has been replaced. Hmmm...!

...it IS a SEL. Since the watch is a 2000-2001, he could have replaced the band recently with the upgrade.

I thought they did that at the very end of that particular model year, but I could just be remembering my facts wrong.
