I'm getting the itch...

No, it's not an STD, but I am getting the itch for another Rolex. Not sure...it's between the ND sub, which I like a lot except for the non SEL bracelet, the SD, which I had and like a douchebag sold. And the GMT II which I also had and sold. The GMT II has more features. I don't need the depth rating of the SD, but who does. I have a big kahuna Breitling M-1 SQ which is built like a tank, in titanium, but it aint a Rolex.

Not sure what to do here. This is gonna be a tough one. I can get 10% off any of these BNIB at AD.

Bob, don't listen to him, he trades watches like there is no tomo...oh wait so do I.

I think you should also go with the GMT II in the all black set up. It is sexy and sophisticated, that is why JJ and I both had to get rid of ours.

OMG! No orange, blue or gold!

Yeah, I'm with the guys on this one - speaking as an SD wearer, my next one's going to be a black GMT II.

My favourite in the sports Rolex is the SD,not a lover of the cyclops
But the more I see the black bezel GMT the more I like it,you might
get more discount on the GMT.

Also, chances are the GMT-II might be more readily available as compared with the SD and Sub.

I agree that the GMT with black bezel would be a good choice. It makes sense to me, because you get the sub look with a bonus (and useful) complication.

Agreed, Al...100%. It's probably the only complication on a professional Rolex that most of us would find the opportunity to use at some time or the other.

Besides....I love the independently movable hour hand feature. Wish every Rolex had it. So useful....not only whilst travelling....but also during time changes for Daylight Savings, etc.

After much antagonizing I have made my incision and will pick up a BNIB "D" SD from the local AD tomorrow. I already have the Kermit, and the ND Sub would be too close to that. I like the Big Kahuna heft of the SD and I rarely travel, although the 24 hour hand on the GMT II is cool.

I'll let you know when I get the SD! I'll even try to take a decent photo!

Thank you!

Yeah, that's right! I didn't get a stinking anchor. Well, that's a huge BFD. Oh, I just got back from picking it up. Got 10.63% off MSRP, which aint bad from an AD who normally offers 0% disc.

I lost enough weight so that 1 link needed to be removed. That makes me happy!

I also like the heft, and the all black look gives me a splendid alternative to the Kermit! I like the thicker bezel also.

I'll work on some photos, but I'm not very good at that. I'll post them later.

It does my heart good to see so many of our loyal company urge you to go with MY watch (black GMT-II), even those who admittedly regret selling their's. Yes, it is a watch for the refined and genteel amonst us Bob. That said, it's with the elite you belong. (smile) The other guys have recognized the error of their ways and will be back soon.

Was that a post or a sermon?

Let's face it, JJ, you're just PO'ed at yourself for getting rid of yours and now you are too embarrassed to admit your mistake, so you had to go out and get the all black GMT-II's poor relation. I promise, if you trade the EXP back for the GMT, we will not jeer you - we will cheer you and embrace you for seeing the error of your ways and coming back into the fold where you know you belong.

In all seriousness, Ed, I love the all black GMT-II.....hell, I love just about any GMT-II with any of the bezels....remember I owned all 3 at some stage or the other.

Honesltly, I NEVER EVER use my bezels.....NEVER!!! For a person like me, a revolving bezel is dead useless, utterly useless. I prefer fixed bezels and the Exp-II does it all for me. A bezel that is functional, attractive and fixed...the way I like it PLUS the superb independenly movable hour hand feature which I love and hope for in all watches some day.

And the thing I love MOST in any watch is CONTRAST. One reason why I love the way the gold bezel on my TT YM contrasts with the stunning blue on the dial; and one reason why I love the way the brushed SS bezel on the Exp-II contrasts with the black dial....you see, there is no continuity....instead there is the all important contrast...something very important to my aesthetics!!

JJ

JJ, I have to keep kidding you, but I agree that the black dial EXP is a very pretty watch. If you weren't going to get the GMT, the EXP is the next best thing. So wear it well and enjoy it (at least until the next great love comes along ).

Wrist shot

Here's a wrist shot of the SD. Bracelet is adjusted perfectly. It doesn't move around and I'm not aware it's there. Love the no cyclops look too.

While the SD is not my first choice, any all black Rollie is a good looking timepiece. Wear it well and enjoy it, Bob.
