Icon7 My first IWC: a classic Mark XVI

I've been looking at IWC watches for years and it's been my dream to own at least a piece of beauty from this fantastic watch manufacturer. Today I finally pulled the trigger and acquired my very first IWC time piece, the Mark XVI. I am loving it to death and its beauty just keep growing on me. I think the size is just perfect, not too large nor too small. My daily wear is a 36mm Seamaster, a little small for today's trend but I am very happy with it. A 3mm increase is barely noticeable but I do like the look of the Mark XVI on my wrist. I find the alligator strap slightly thin but it looks great with the watch. I can't justify paying so much premium for the steel bracelet which I've heard nothing but praises. I'll just keep replacing the strap every year or two :)

For a mere £2050 I paid at the duty free Mappin & Webb in Heathrow Airport, I think this IWC represents a great value for money. Considering the brand's prestige, heritage, and quality of their time piece. I was eyeing a Rolex Explorer but it didn't look good on my wrist plus I need the date function! I know it's a trade off between a "ROLEX" with its own in-house movement but I fell in love with this particular IWC. I will be saving ££££'s for a Rolex which join my watch collection in the near future.

Cheers!

Ben

Excellent watch.
Bought one myself a few weeks ago from Mallorys in Bath. Wife won't let me wear it until Christmas...still counting down.

Wow Ben. Love that one. I've considered it many times. I'll have to get it one day.

Wear it well.

Thank you for your compliments, guys. I highly recommend the Mark XVI to any watch lovers out there, it is truly a classic piece with deep history that will sure to last you a very long time while looking immaculate.

I am saving up £££ to get the steel bracelet which costs quite a bit of a fortune but it will be worth it comes the summer.

a very classy beauty...its great you went for the 39mm pilot's watch cuz <=40 is a very comfortable daily wear size in my opinion and larger is often tougher for prolonged wear...plus it looks great on you...neat and awesome watch

It is certainly comfortable but since I'm used to the ruggedness of Omegas I am still unsure whether I should make this IWC a daily-wearer.
