this is one of the few important watch novelties that happen
If the Rolls Royce among watches makes a new movement it must be great.
It's been quite some years that Patek collectors were waiting for an inhouse manual chrono movement. The CH27-70 which we find in the 5070-5970 and 5004 is admired by a lot of enthusiasts. The problem was that this movement was in fact a heavily modified Lémania. Nothing wrong with not being 100% inhouse, Patek modified the movement so much that it was almost considered as being inhouse. The real problem was that The Swatch Group would not deliver that movement after 2008 - 2009. Patek was aware of this problem and created a movement which will replace that CH27-70. You can bet on it , they took several years before they were satisfied with the end result. Anyway, Yesterday they gave us what we were waiting for. The new inhouse MANUAL chrono (They had already an automatic but purists mostly prefer a manual wind in the top pieces.) So here are some pictures. All credits to Alberto S. from www.horomundi.com (he was at the press-release and was kind enough to take those amazing pictures) What an amazing piece !!! Note that extra complications like a perpetual calendar or split-second are expected in the future. Today this movement in only available for woman. Strange ? Why not, Ladies first, right ? :-) Anyway, I'm pretty sure we men will see some amazing new Chrongraphs at Basel 2010. Some patience is required :-) This is the 7010 - Ladies Patek Chrono

Great photos Bruno and which such detail.
I shall reserve my judgement until hopefully Basel 2010.
