Icon3 You heard it here first... well, early anyway

Couple months ago, I had an idea for a Panerai model (possibly a line). Ok, stick with me on this one:

White (or Ivory) Sandwich Dial.

Re-invent the light dial. Only better. Same idea as the black or tobacco sandwiches, but with a black luminous plate behind it. Why not? Bell & Ross, Ulysse Nardin, Hublot - all are able to make to make black glow. Only not behind a cut-out dial, which OP has perfected. Sure, it won't be as bright as the regular green or blue lume, but it'll look damn cool.

Definitely would look sweet in a Logo or Base, maybe a chrono like the Daylights.... But more complex dials - who knows, gotta crawl before you walk.

Wanted to get TRFPAMers opinions - would you like the look? Why - why not?

Thanks, peeps.

P.S. Darren, I do get it

Sounds pretty cool! The only white dial PAM I've seen IRL was a 49...I think, and it was waay too small..
It'd also be nice to see something other than black or tobacco dials..IMO

Sounds neat Greg. I like unusual watches like that. I walked into my dealer looking for a base model and walked out with a cream face 251 Daylight and couldn't be happier.

Somebody should photochop it for us. Shouldn't be too hard.

Well, there are many shades of white, I'm sure there is one that works, but how about blue indicies like Sly's model he had done.

What I wouldn't want to start seeing is Panerai's of all colors coming out.

I like black, I like brown and I like white.

Please no orange, yellow, gold, etc on my Panerai.

Sure, why not?
I am a fan of the ivory dial PAM 251 although I think that dial is way too busy for a sandwich overlay.
An ivory dial would be nice for a 111/112 or perhaps a 312.

I'm going to have to be the first one to dissent! I think it's a cool idea for a white sandwich dial, but there's a reason why most of the lineup is black or tobacco -- those colors look really good! White .... not so much.

I was commenting on the reason why there are far more dark than white dials. I guess your point is that if they are going to have a white dial, then might as well make it a cool sandwich. Seems reasonable -- though I still won't be one of the buyers!

I think the white dials go well with more strap colors, not just shades of brown and black. I have a baby blue croc that looks awesome!!!

I don't see why not, I always have a knack for white/ivory dials. They look fresh and clean, specially when you're wearing bright coloured clothings. :)

Well - they already have a full lume dial on a 251... Or you mean 'lumier' than that?

?????

My 251 has lume "dots" only? I think they mean to paint the WHOLE dial with lume.

I agree the 251 is too busy as is for such a treatment. I think a white sandwich dial without the 60 second ticks marks would look cool.
