From what I've read Rolex hasn't ever really officially said anything about it being an error on their part at all. There are some late Z serial 16710s out there with the 3186 movement instead of the 3185 that have the stick dial. However mine is a 3185, confirmed by my D serial, and a watchmaker giving it a looking over once I got it in.

Thanks again everyone! The coke on the coke bottle is awesome! A friend's mother collects vintage coca cola products, I might have to do some shots with some of her stuff now that you gave me that idea
