info needed
Hi everyone, I have 3 Pams that I want to sell and many brand new straps, I am in Europe and have put them on sale on chrono 24 but for 3 months have only had 6 contacts and nothing more, on which sales site do you think I should put them?
If anyone has info on the best way it would be very appreciated. Thanks a lot. |

Perhaps the asking prices are too high?

Seems not, 233K "dot dial" mint condition, box papers, for 7800 euros;
028 mint condition 98%, Box papers 7800 euros; 082 MM dial, "shadow case "watch, but without box or papers 8200, and all the brand new straps I have are sold 50% less, the cheaper being 160 dollars, the most expensives around 295 dollars, so 50% off on these prices for the straps, even have a Blancpain full set which costs un FRance 20900 euros, it's brand new and I wants 11800 for it, do you think it's too much for these 4 pieces? ? I even put on TRF but a huge majority of members live in the US and don't care to buy from France, especially these being the first I flip I don't have a lot of references, and ask clients a face to face deal at the AD for authentification, one tried to rob me before summer, he wanted me to bring all my watches, 5 then, at a restaurant in a crappy Paris neighborhood, clearly I would have been mugged or worse leaving the place... Thanks guys for any help on this |

Well didn't see any at that price in almost new condition, here's a link with the prices on Chrono 24, and I see they are much higher than mine.

And how about the straps, I have around 10 brand new ones, from Kodiak, Mario Paci, Ted Su special signature straps, and 1 Mauser, where could I sell these? you think half price is ok seeing that they are 100% new? the cheapest are 200 dollars, the highest, Kodiak 100% water resistant and Ted Su are at 295.

Do you know a site where they have normal prices for Pams? So I can check it out? Oh and of course the prices in second hand are always cheaper in the US than in Europe, and England prices are even more expensive than the rest of Europe...

If you aren't getting interest at your prices, then they are too high IMHO. Straps may not add a lot of value to some people..

Also one guy, with a light arabic accent, wanted me to come with my Daytona 116515 and my 3 Pams to a restaurant in a notoriously bad place of Paris, and after me refusing wanted on the Champs Elysees, when I told him I was showing them only in the bank, I don't know why but I didn't hear from him anymore, do you think that after the meeting 2 or more guys would have jumped me in the street to steel my watches? I can't believe some people would actually do something like this If to count retail price there would have been almost 50.000 euros. So I have had great experiences since the moment I have put them on sale, since I am tired of this I decided to give them to a friend who is a grey dealer and sells new or used pieces, I will give them to him in 1 week, he is taking only 20% from the sales price whereas most will take 25-40% depending on the model. |

Arnaud, I think you made a wise decision and let someone else with connections to sell the watches and give him the percentage, too much nonsense and stress the other way.

Thanks Nicholas, that plus the fact that due to the increasing quantity of good fakes and rip offs, genuine watch on add and nothing shipped or a fake, it's getting more difficult to sell as a private person, especially if like me you never sold any of your watches before, can't provide any feedback... So maybe I will get a little less than if I sold myself but getting ridiculous offers or guys trying to scam or rob me tired me...

I'll add to the comments and say that pricing and patience are key. When I look at the classified ads I'm probably interested in 5% of what I see. Nothing wrong with the others but my tastes are my own. My guess is that the same goes for everyone else.
Then when I see something interesting price determines whether or not I buy. I don't expect a lowball price but do expect a decent discount over buying new. For example, a SS Daytona has a MSRP of $12k. I see most of them used here for $9000-$11,500 range. So to me, I'm only going to consider ones less than $10k. Any higher and I'd rather but from an AD new. |

Thanks Steeve, anyways as I said I gave them to a grey dealer friend of mine, he takes only 7% from the sale, plus he gives warranty and he has a great reputation so why take the hassle for 7% more...
