So it seems like the suffix on the GMT II models is a Rolex USA practice only. Non US models are simply 16710 with no suffix to indicate the original bezel colour.

Sorry for delay in replying, yes it is a UK sourced watch as 160 on papers. The shop in Liverpool said the original buyer probably ordered it with a black bezel but when ordered through Rolex they just changed the bezel at Bexley before they sent it out to the AD,as someone said there is nothing on the watch itself to say it was originaly a Pepsi.

That's interesting.... Seems a little inconsistent, as a number of non-US owners don't seem to have any suffix. Anyone else willing to share their model numbers? |

My 16710 coke is a P serial number - circa 2001 and the papers say do say 16710A. However, as noted already one can easily source the other bezel inserts and have all three (coke, pepsi & black). 16710 is the watch model reference # and, regardless of the bezel insert color, that doesn't change .
Also, a great reference site for GMT owners is this one: www.gmtmasterhistory.com. I don't think I am breaking any forum rules for noting this as I recall seeing that site referenced in others posts. |

Yes, starting with Z or M, there is an A or B on the warranty card designating the type of bezel (Photo by Champthekid). More at http://www.minus4plus6.com/paracromblu16710.htm#a -Sheldon

I mean why just have different bezel inserts when you can one of each watch instead. Sure saves the hassle of switching them up! The 16710 is a modern day classic without doubt. BTW - I have enjoyed visiting your site over the years. Very well done body of work. |

Cool, thanks... One clarification though.. I don't own both those watches. The photo was from ChampTheKid who let me use on the site. I have one 16710A (M series). My photo's are not as good as his..

My 16710 states 'Style: R16710B30B7879'.
It's a pepsi bezel & purchased in the US in 2006. Am I reducing resale value by changing bezel colour? |

So when you send in the watch for a service RUSA don't put the original bezel back on the watch then? I assume not.
