What's your favourite low end, luxury brand?

My best friends birthdays coming up soon and I thought I'd get him a Swiss luxury watch, but I don't want to spend too much.

I'm a big fan of the "Tissot, Squelette", and I think he'll like it too.

What's your thoughts?

I don't really like these categories of watches into luxury, low-end, etc.

Nonetheless, these categories exist and the rest of us have to go along, so that we come close to speaking the same language.

Generally speaking, Tissot is not considered a luxury watch, low-end or otherwise. In the Swatch Group pantheon of watch brands, Tissot is a mid-tier watch.

Regardless, I think a nice Tissot would make a great gift for a friend.

Tissot, I read not long ago, is the largest selling watch in Switzerland.

I have two and am especially fond of them.

Tissot makes some lovely watches. They are my go to gift watch. I have purchased six in the last two years as gifts and all the recipients were quite pleased with them.

Omega. Lol JK. I know some of you will try to bite my head off for saying something like that. Never really explored the lower end watch lines. Interested in what you all say.

You could gift a Sistem 51 or a G Shock.

In terms of luxury watches, I wouldn't gift anything below Tudor. The $1000-2000 range is sketchy, in my opinion

Tissot would be a good choice, although I'm not sure if it is classed as luxury

Define "too much"....$500? $1,000? $3,000?

Does it need to be "Swiss"?

As opinions go, that’s still utter nonsense – even going by some of the synonyms for “sketchy”.

(cough)…German. The clue is in the omitted part of the full brand name – Glashutte.

It is.

I know the op asked for a "Swiss watch" but not sure if he is wanting only a Swiss brand or just a good luxury brand. Also depends on budget.

Hamilton or Ball if you want Swiss. If any country is ok I suggest you look at Nomos as well.

A bit of a daft idea, given you don’t know for definite what he likes.
Nice sentiment though, so why not take him out on or the day before his birthday, and look at watches around your budget, allowing for negotiating a more attractive price, etc.
Use the ruse that you fancy a new watch, and "just out of curiosity” ask which he prefers the look of or would buy if he was in your shoes.
Maybe take a third person, a female perhaps, who’s not necessarily in on it, so as to keep him off his guard.
