I am torn between two watches
Don't know which watch to get as my next... The cost is app. the same.
What would you choose --- and why? IWC Mission Earth (46mm, steel) Panerai Luminor Submersible 305 (47mm, titanium)

IWC for me:
1. Less common 2. Probably cheaper 3. Has a bracelet option (not sure if Panerai has one for this model) 4. One of the best designs by Genta 5. Shock, magnetic, water resistant 6. Pellaton movement Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2

It would probably better to try both and compare them on your wrist but I personally prefer the look of the IWC.

If I was picking one I would go the IWC but am not an expert in either, there are just so many watches in this price range for this type of watch, Breguet have a nice watch, as do Blancpain, not to mention a Sub from a brand known as Rolex. It comes down to what your heart tells you

Try both on and get the one that sings to you the most--so personal.

IWC All the way. Because it is much more me. Just not a Panerai guy at all. The IWC is timeless looking IMO.

Wow, all the LV guys showed up on this one.
I just got rid of mine for a no date. The green definitely adds color to a collection, but foe me, not as wearable as a black sub. If in your shoes, I would go vintage sub. |

You need to try them on. My personal choice is the IWC.

Thanks for your replies. It looks like you pretty much agree on the IWC. And actually I did try it on, but I am not convinced.
I haven't tried on the 305, but I already own a 177 (not 47mm, but 44mm). (PS: I have been looking at Rolex, but the only model that has the "right" size for me, is the DeepSea, but I have issues with the - IMO - narrow brachelet and the thick/high case -- If Rolex made a 44mm sub no-date, I would definitely by it :) )

IWC is nicer - somehow it's missing something though. Seems a bit like a seiko.

I like the ME for the movement but love the 305 for the strap options. The Panerai will do better in resale than IWC but I like the Genta derived styling of the IWC better. Toss up.

Actually I haven't got the strap bug (yet?). I never changed strap on my 177.
Gerald Genta was the reason I noticed the Mission Earth in the first place. I wanted an AP Diver, but couldn't find the $$$ to buy it.

Thanks, kilyung, wonderful piece as well, but I prefer the larger size of the Mission Earth...

With all due respect I would beg to differ. Besides, there's nothing wrong with Tag Heuer in my book.

My wife just looked over my shoulder and saw the pictures of the IWC and PAM. There were no doubt in her mind: Panerai. By far. Hmmmm... Now I got her input, and luckily I also tend to lean towards the PAM...

I would pick the IWC as well! A more classy look.

ME for me...
IWC for me as well. While I am a big fan of Panerai, the 305 has never done anything for me (gimmie a 243 any day of the week).
Regards, Adam PS - IWC equal to or lesser than TAG?!? Kyu, I need some of what you're smoking, stat! |

IWC for me.
Although on the proviso it goes on a leather or rubber strap, the bracelet really doesn’t compliment the watch imo. |

Between both of these, I'd buy a Rolex
