I was curious on a lunch break , me and a buddy of mine stopped in royal pawn jewelers downtown chicago, to my surprise they checked the serial number and identified it as a true sub.....The guy offered me 4000 usd for it and of course i walked away from it and he even yelled when i was walking out "bring me the box and papers and i will give you an additional 800 dollars".....That just made me laugh harder, i will never part from my TT sub or any other rolex i own! are you kidding me.....

Not all Pawn Shops are totally ignorant about special versions of particular models.

You have to watch the guys who run newspaper ads. Last year on my way to work i wanted to see what they were up to. I took a mint WWII battle flag and a helmet to see what they would offer. As i was standing inline, a girl came by with a paper she wanted me to sign before they looked at my idem. I read the paper, and at the end, it stated something about selling my idem for their offer, if i put my idem on the table. So after seeing that, i refused to sign. So in a nut shell, my small idems they wouldnt push to buy them i belive. However, if i put a high dollar idem, war relic, gun or watch on the table they would. As i would have signed their paper, there would be little i could do. Ron

You don't think $4800 is a fair offer from a guy that's going to try and turn it for a profit? There are complete TT Subs listed here for much less.

PawnShops just have a bad rap, and if you found a reputable broker, I think you would surprised.

Pawn shops in my area sell pre-owned for MORE than the watch forums. Not very good deals and they will negotiate very little.

You may never again be offered 4800 for that watch. Not saying you should have taken it, I wouldn't but it's not a bad offer really.

Are you serious , have they depreciated that much....UMMMMMM , i here what your saying , but this was a gift from my wife for our anniversary and i don't have any plans on selling it , you know these rolex watches are like cars , once they leave the AD the value just plummets......

I don't know why people get excited over how much a pawn shop makes buying and selling a Rolex watch when AD's make 40% routinely on Rolex watch's they sell and nobody says anything bad about that. Pawn shops just like ever other business out there have to buy low in order to sell higher, its just good business, and if you don't like it then stay away. No pawn shop is putting a gun to anyone's head to sell them their watch or to buy something from them. As a matter of fact stay away and leave the good deals to me.

I never get these offers wow. A stockbroker friend of mine tried to borrow against his D series TT sub 2 months ago he went to every pawn shop in my town and the most the would lend him was $2500.00. I guess every city is different.Like I said I have never found Rolex at pawn shops but I have gotten some really good deals cause of their crack staff on not so well known brands.
If you ever see a Tudor that is markerd Rolex on the case back give it a try and tell em its a fake Rolex what can they do on it You might be surprised

Some of the largest pawn shops, with lots of Rolexes are in Macau (the Las Vegas in Asia). Many folks pawn their watches for cash to try and win back that gambling deficit and they loose. There are literally 5-6 pawn shops near Lisboa Casino on the main street with hundreds, if not thousands of Rolexes and other brands of Swiss watches displayed in the windows. See the link below, it is surreal -

Recently took my 2009 16610 to borrow 1,000 on it and I asked the broker how much would be able to borrow if I needed and he said he'd loan 2500 not bad if I need. A loan but would never borrow that much I'd miss my baby and its immaculate

His post was made in 2009, and he's since been banned. Still, name-calling like that isn't necessary here.
