Amsterdam watch shops?

Hi folks

I have a free afternoon in Amsterdam next week. Any watch dealers worth making a trip too?

Stuart

Straat in Dutch :-)

Precisionwatches is indeed in Amsterdam but not exactly in the center.

There's a good one in a corner in the outskirts of the red light district, next to a big shopping mall (close to the main train station) ... no clue of the name.

Had a funny experience there a few years ago, the salesman basically talked me out of buying a Sub since according to him my Explorer II looked brand new, it was nicer and it didn't make sense to spend the money ... Very german logic. Nevertheless, I had a good time at the store I remember and they had a great selection.

Well: Germans are not Dutch :-) The shop you mean is Amsterdam Vintage Watches but that has been moved to Singel (so no legal visits to the red light district anymore).

Gassan at Dam and also in Schiphol.

I have many items from them. Good service. If you go outside EEC, you get also VAT discount, but I doubt if you can get that low as the prices of Dubai.

German father, lived in Brussels many years and traveled extensively through Holland many times. Obviously I did not try to imply that ... It came across the wrong way ... The salesman logic was funny (and flawless)

I am not sure it was the Vintage store though ... My recollection is more in line with the picture of Gassan above.
