Icon5 Rolex DRSD v Submariner 18k

In the long run, which will become more desirable or collectible amongst enthusiasts and collectors, a Double Red Sea-Dweller or a Submariner in 18k solid gold, assuming both of them are in top condition original condition?

I am going to take the opposite tack and say gold. The big demand in the future will be china and the Chinese prefer gold (gross generalization but I believe it to be true) so I see the gold ones climbing in price faster than the DRSD.

IMHO there are way more DRSD's out the versus 18k 1680's. I have seen dozens of mint complete set DRSD for sale throughout the years but can count on 1 hand the mint complete set 18k 1680's I have seen.

If I were a collector I would agree with Nikos. As an admirer and someone that wants a bullet proof tank that I can wear and admire without worrying over a few battle scars then I say drsd

I'd opt for a nicely faded dial/insert 1680 18ct, long term.

Pure speculation. Anyway if someone has a crystal ball I'd rather have some nice stock advice so that I can buy both a DRSD and a 1680/8

The gold Sub really is nice. Yo can't go wrong with a gold 1680.

Interesting responses. I expected nearly everyone to say DRSD and I'm surprised by the number of gold votes. Wonder how much of this relates to the current inflated price of gold.
