Will NY RSC sell Hatchet a new Jubilee?

After some discussion with my AD and a few phone calls to RSC I am going to try to get a new Jubilee bracelet for my GMT II.

Heres the deal--I have an Oyster, of course and my AD called to order a Jubilee with 502B endpieces and they said to send it in. AD told me they wouldn't do it. I called Dallas RSC and told them the situation and they said they would do it and keep the Oyster. I asked what if I didn't have the Oyster. They acted kind of weird but said they would do it.

AD called them today while I was there and Dallas told him to call NY. He gave them the watch numbers and asked them if they would put a Jubilee on and they said to send it in. They wouldn't give him a yes or no. Being optimistic I sent it in.

We got a laugh out of it and by next week we'll see.

What do you guys think??

If they verify the authenticity of your GMT, I don't see why not..

Because it didn't come with that bracelet? That's what I was thinking.

I once considered changing a jubilee for an oyster (what was I thinking - LOL!) and the story I got was that I had to send in my watch so that they could evaluate it to estimate a 'trade in value'....essentially, they'll keep your bracelet and put on the one you want...AND charge you about $1000!

Needless to say, I came to my senses and stuck with my jubilee.

Larry, I didn't think that they liked changing anything from the original spec?

Why not go for the UPDATED Jubilee bracelet for your GMT II?

Yes, it's expensive (~ 1,100 US $) but according to the pics that "Ny00768" posted recently (also in the Classifieds), the new Jubilee does fit the "old" GMT II:

It may not have come with one, but the GMT was available with the Jubilee as an option.

With a dial change, they just amend the records to note the new dial (or any parts replaced during a service)....no reason why they wouldn't do the same for a bracelet.

I think sending in a watch head with no bracelet and a request for a Jubilee bracelet is the best way to go, in order to maximize your probability of obtaining one.

That is what we did!

$1350 for the SuperJubilee. Very nice, but not worth an extra $775 to me personally. Almost, but not quite. I ordered the good ol' 62510h.

I hope it works out for you. It's a shame we can't just order one through the AD without sending the watch in. I tried to order the same for my GMT the other day, AD called Rolex but didn't have any luck with finding a solution to getting me one.
Please report back if you're successful & post pics of course, lol

I'd spent the $$ extra and go for the new Jubilee. You won't ever get any stretching issues with this one.

Definitely good advice, Bo - the new solid bracelets are really sturdy robust. The extra cash will be worth it.

You know - the more I read about this stuff - the more I am surprised that Rolex USA has any customers at all.

Can you imagine if the BMW garage insisted on keeping your old wheels if you wanted a new set?

I dunno - perhaps they do in the USA? ;-)

Crazy - it really is.

All the best,

Harry

I have done this with Tudor's a few times here in the UK, I have always sent the watch head in only, along with a letter explaining what I was after and it has been OK so far.
Have a Tudor Date-day that came on a Jubilee bracelet and sent it in head only - it came back a few weeks later with a shiney new Oyster.
In fact I have a Tudor Hydronaut that came on a rubber strap originally, in at Bexley RSC for the Tudor Hydronaut bracelet to be fitted as we speak.
Can't recall doing it with a Rolex though

I'm with you there Plus I think the older style jubilee looks better on the GMT. The hidden clasp design is too dressy for it IMO. Plus that's a lot of cash. Good luck

I think that you'll get it. I think Rolex has gone overboard on the smoke and mirrors/cloak and dagger/so who's your daddy stuff. I think all of this ultra exclusiveness is percieved as being a marketing tool by Rolex. Once they recieve the watch (a.k.a. the secret handshake) all will go well. This is all just "if you have to ask how much...." hype. I can truly see no other reason. BTW, thanks for the heads up on the order.
