As for the various initials, the "C" simply refers to the ceramic bezel rather than the previous generation aluminum ones - as in GMT2C or SubC. This is only us fans throwing the "C" in, Rolex does not include this in official model numbers. As far as Rolex goes, the distinction is that the previous gen Subs and GMTs had 5 digit model numbers and the current ceramics have six digits. The LV is part of the official Rolex model number for the Sub and refers to the Sub with the green bezel and dial i.e. the 116610LV. The 116710BLNR refers to the GMT with the Black/blue two tone bezel. The other main differences with the BLNR are different colored font on the dial and a blue 24 hour hand rather than the green hand. The BLNR just came out this year so you probably won't find a used one for significantly less money than MSRP yet.

Sub forever.....
The big numbers on the GMT bezel are horrendous. The old bezel was nicer.
In the Sub. this change does not happen and the watch looks splendid. IMHO |

I agree, the bolder numbers appeal to me. And the 24 click bezel is a definite improvement. But he did say it was his opinion, and to each his own.

GMT vs Sub
Had the same "problem"....
Was turning around the sub in circles since past 6 years... Beautiful piece of art. Since my job makes me travel a lot and my hobby are planes, the GMT made the race. I love the second time zone and use it very often. The sub is a bit more decent, the actual GMT is a bit more "bling". But both are beautiful watches, lucky we have two hand wrists.... regards |

Got the new Sub-c, but a bit disappointed to find the bracelet scratches so easily. Being a tool watch the body itself seems indestructible but cannot say the same for the bracelet. Still love it though!

I have the GMT II C as well and never really liked the PCL. Did you get the center links brushed or did you replace them?

I recently had to decide between a YG SubC Bluesy or a YG GMT11 Green....the bezel was IMHO ugly on the GMT so I went with the SubC Bluesy....Everyone I showed a pic of the GMT next to SubC to said the same thing.."I don't like the big numbers on the bezel". |

As someone whom went thru the same situation
Both are different and the GMT is louder as the PCL shouts "look at me!" I would go for sub first. |

I'd go for the Sub. Its a Rolex classic.
The GMT is just to blink-blink for me. |

Have you considered the 42 mm Explorer II? If you're going to have only one Rolex it is PERFECT. Just a thought.

Agreed! I prefer the newer styling and the ceramic bezel, in my opinion, is so much better than the old aluminum ones. Every time I think I might choose a 16710 as my second Rolex I'll see one in the wild with a dull bezel and it will reinforce my desire to add the BLNR of Sub. As to your dilemma, I'm afraid I can't help. I think the BLNR and the 114060 are equal and the most beautiful sport watches Rolex makes. Let us know what you decide(d).

The Sub C is my pick.
i dislike GMTIIc for it centre polished links and clutterd bezel. Sub C is simple and a Rolex classic-:) |

This is definitely one of those million dollar questions (maybe more like $8k) a lot of us struggle with when we're looking for a diver style watch. Don't you hate it when our budget spoils all the fun? :)

sub has a nice bezel (the clicks feel awesome) and it has a better clasp - ability to resize ur watch instantly - esp useful during the summer
it is a matter of opinion - try them both on - you will decide instantly |

Sub is most Rolex owners' first watch and with good reason. The Glidelock of the SubC is extremely attractive too.

I wish the numbers on the GMT's bezel were noticeably smaller.

Gmt ii here!!!
From my perspective gmt with black bezel is just perfect. Actually I do not like at all the pepsi version. The sub is an interesting watch no doubt. If you find yourself diving deep waters sub may be the best option. I have to travel way more often than swimming. In addition I never go deeper than 2 or 3 feet underwater Cheers |

I am a fan of the Sub and GMTII models prior to the change to ceramic bezel inserts and maxi dials. If I'm adding another Sub to my collection it will be pre-ceramic models. That's just my personal preference.
As for the SubC vs GMT IIC, I'd go with the SubC for sure. The larger numbers on the GMT bezel are not at all appealing to me. A good friend of mine has a new SubC so I spent some time trying it out. It does wear differently than the previous model Sub, and while I still feel the SubC is one of the finest looking watches available today, I just prefer the previous version dial/bezel. Maybe I just got too used to the look of the older dial and bezel, not sure. In the end, both are exceptional time pieces. |

I do like the sub, especially the no-date and was seriously considering changing my IIc for one until I found NATO straps.
With the removal of the shiny stainless steel bracelet I find the watch takes on a whole new look and I love it ! Just waiting for a black and green stripe NATO to arrive in the post because I think that will be something truly special. The green of the 4th hand will go really well with a green stripe I believe and will give the watch something more over a sub. Here's the NATO I was able to buy locally. I also fitted (don't laugh please) the strap which comes with my Heritage Black Bay and that looked great too. Although I prefer the NATO. And yes I know the lugs on the GMT are 20mm and the black bays are 22mm but it just about fit ! P.S. - have you seen the "batman" IIc ? Now that I think is truly wonderful (again on a black and blue strip NATO of course !). |

A brushed bracelet will give the GMTc a totally different look.
