Cartier Santos clasp - is it common to have abit of play?

I have my eyes on the Cartier Santos stainless steel recently, after trying both sizes (medium and large) and I decided the large in white dial is for me.

I was in an AD yesterday ready to pull the trigger, trying it for both sizes again and having a good inspection of the Santos large which I was going to take home.

On a closer look, I noticed the clasp has a gap when closed and has abit of play. At this point, I compared the clasp on the Medium size side by size and don't see an issue with it. The sales associate noticed my concern and was kind to pull out another large in stainless steel and large in 2 tone from the back to look at.

I found both large in stainless steel has the gap, medium SS and the 2 tone large appears to be looking fine for me. I was not too keen to purchase at that stage after the sales associates (now 3 of them) told me it is a common among the large SS models but not the others (appears to be QC on both large SS pieces they have instead).

Can I please check with owners of the SS model in large? Or am I too over zealous?

I have the large Santos and also have the gap. Doesn’t really bother me though.

Great watch and as long as the gap was consistent with the large models I would not have an issue with it.
