why some papers printed versus punched?
I'm looking at a 1986 datejust with an authenticity guarantee. The papers are printed versus punched and I'm not seeing any reliable explanations via search. I know punched papers seem to be more desirable but anyone know a good explanation why and if legit papers would have the serial/reference printed instead of punched?

In the United States, Rolex USA issued typewritten papers beginning around 1980 until around 2007 when they converted to the warranty cards which were the new standard replacing papers world wide. There is no premium for the Rolex USA issued typed papers vs the punched papers found outside the USA.
You will also find hand hand written or typed papers issued by authorized dealers which seem to be replacement Guarantie or Guarantie/Chronometer papers which were probably used as replacements for original documents. These papers do not carry as much value as the original documents.

What one needs to know is if the watch in question should come with one or the other. These are not "authenticity" papers as any papers need to be authenticated just as the watch would need to be.
