How to report a stolen Rolex?

Hi guys, unfortunately a couple of years ago i had my well loved sub stolen (was my first rolex, 18th bday present). Is anyone aware of what the procedure is in order to report it as stolen to Rolex? thanks

It was stolen a couple years ago??? And you haven't done anything yet? I would start with a police report, but may be a little late for that.

A couple of years ago stolen? Or did you mean a couple of weeks ago? I would start with pulling the paperwork to get a serial number of the watch. Report it to the police to get a report. If you had insurance, i would contact them and provide them with the police report.

I believe you can also report it to Rolex and give them the serial number. If someone turns it in for service they might raise a red flag. Not positive, but I am sure someone on this forum with chime in on that.

If no insurance, you are pretty much out of luck and happy hunting for a new one. Oh, maybe hit the local pawn shops in the area and let them know. They get the stolen goods all the time.

You may notify one of the Rolex Service Centers in your country about you Rolex. Make sure to supply them with info about your Rolex and a serial number of the watch. Let's hope sooner or later the watch will go to RSC for service.

Hi guys, i'm the lucky owner of 2 Daytona SS, a white face and a black one, The White one is a 2007 model with a relatively different clasp... In a DIY moment i swapped bracelets among my watches... then re-swapped... I ended up having one of the watches with the braceled installed in the wrong direction, who can tell me what the right direction is? (i.e looking at the watch, rolex crown on the clasp, once bracelet is folded, should be on the upper side? or down ?)

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Dang, just all kinds of bad luck. Stolen watches, daytona has the clasp put on wrong. Can only get better from here. Sell one of the Daytona watches to a member here that has been waiting for 2 years and go buy the watch you lost.

Contact a Rolex Service Center and get it into their database for stolen watches. There might be a hurdle or two to jump threw considering it's been a couple of years but this way if it ever comes in for a service, you will get it back.

If you don't have a police report dated around the time the watch was stolen, I think you may have some issues......

Correct! From what I've read Rolex requires a police report to register a stolen watch. Otherwise, you could sell your watch, report it stolen to Rolelx and await its return if it is sent to a RSC.

well it sounds like you just get watches for just being you, so i would not worry about selling, bartering for a new one or getting a police report. You have it all figured out.

Having box and papers proves absolutely nothing, especially when these items can be purchased from ebay.

A police report is the most important thing. This can be used for insurance purposes, and this is what Rolex will require before they put it in their database.

If this happened over 2 years ago, really not sure what you will be able to do. Kind of doubt the police can help you with this. You can always call them, but I kind of doubt it.

Without a police report contiguous to the alleged theft, there was no theft, from Rolex's point of view. As has been intimated, one could very easily sell the watch, keep the box and papers, and then years later, report it stolen, and potentially, get it back from Rolex, were it to be sent in for service. That is why they require a police report, contiguous to the alleged time of loss or theft.

Out of curiosity, why would you or anyone, for that matter, NOT file a police report.......

And, who is the owner WOULD be the operative question......and a 2 year plus post "theft" report is not a very credible methodology of establishing ownership, having box, papers and the original receipt in hand notwithstanding, absent also having the actual watch in your possession.

Now, if the theft were just now discovered (say, you had last seen the watch some 2 years ago), that would be different, however, as you have now established otherwise, on this, a public forum, presenting your loss as such would potentially have a very bad outcome.....

Sorry for your loss.......

Don't know about England but in the U.S. I would assume the RSC would need a police report before they would confiscate the watch should it happen to show up for service.

You can call Rolex and report the serial number and if it ever gets serviced thy might return it.

Rolex won't just take your word for it, it needs to be a bit more official than that.

You need to provide them with a copy of the official police report of theft. If they receive it in for service, it gets flagged, and they notify the reporting authority (local police listed on the report) who, in turn, notify you.

Stolen Serial Number Database?

My Rolex was stolen recently. I filed an insurance claim and am in the process of filing a police report. I have the serial number etc., and have had it serviced via local retailer before. Is there any way to alert Rolex service centers or something like that to be on the lookout for a particular serial number?
