Zenith heritage 146

My favorite release of sihh 2017 so far. I really liked the hodinkee collaboration, but missed out on it. A few tweaks and available in blue...really like this one!

I'm hoping to eventually handle it in person...I'm wondering if it's too much having done the bracelet in ceramic as well. Have to say, it looks great in the press pictures, but I kind of feel it may have been better on a leather strap

A couple local ADs carry Zenith, I'll have to check that one out, they may have it.

The ceramic RO is my favorite for this year but this Zenith is right there. I love love the size and retro feel to the strap and the dial is beautiful.

Funny how HODINKEE hasn't profiled it yet (given their recent special release of essentially the same watch)

Was thinking the same thing. I imagine they weren't happy about it

I was just told by an AD that the launch is Q2 (2017), waiting on confirmed Euro price, but is coming out at 7,900 CHF (approx. equivalent to USD at the time of writing).

Is that a bit expensive or is it just me?

Well the limited Hodinkee edition run USD 7.900 - and were very likely sold without any discount so these models will be cheaper. To quote Hodinkee about the design of the watch:

"Most of these details were asked for specifically by the HODINKEE team, and are available exclusively on this limited edition model."

Not so limited anymore...

Well, this was the instruction that the AD was given. I wouldn't be suprised if the actual price is close to USD 7.900 come Q2 of 2017. But maybe that is just me being a pessimist.

Oh no, for me the most amazing part is that the bracelet is also ceramic, I will have to wait to see it and handle it one day, but if prices are reduced on the secondary market and if I love it as much in real, I am thinking almost every day about maybe getting one some day, by flipping the ceramic diver and adding cash, but that's just one of my watch thoughts, but I find amazing the fact that it's all ceramic, basically it will always look new and is sexy as hell, but I agree that I hope it's possible to put a leather bracelet on it to change it from time to time, so it is really my fave from SIHH? and second are the new 44's, really think I will get the TI, yeah I know only AP faves, but the Zenith is quite nice too, just the others appeal to me more

Zenith's instagram says $7,900, but no one pays retail for zenith- except for the few guys that got the hodinkee version.

I hope the brand will get back to stuff like that. With Jean Claude Biver at the helm now, who knows?

So what would be a realistic discount?

And how does the movement compare to e.g. the 1861 (found in Omega FOIS)?

It's an old movement, but a legendary one.

If I remember correctly, the El Primero movement was first introduced in 1969 and was the first automatic chronograph movement (needs confirmation). It's a well designed movement that can be adapted to various uses, and has also been used by other top manufactures (e.g. Rolex in Daytonas).

This is an attractive watch and at the right price might consider picking one up.

Interesting - and I agree it is an attractive watch, albeit I could use a bit more color contrast on the face/registers/dials.

I don't like what they did with the small second counter, eliminating the 5 second marks and keeping just the crosshairs. The dial looks a little unbalanced to me now. I also would have preferred more versatile dial colors, like the LE Hodinkee gray, with a black or silver or white dial option.
