FP Journe vs Lange

Hi all

First time I tried FPJ and pretty amazed! What do you guys think choosing between these 2 models?

Also appreciate any input about FPJ including a good price to pay for this model. Was quoted £18k new from an AD.

Appreciate your help and guidance.

Thanks
Anuj

I like having the date on the Lange. From an aesthetic point of view only... I also prefer the way the power reserve indicator is set up on the Lange versus the fpj. But having said that.. These two are absolutely amazing. Let us know what you decide

Lange! It's my next conquest. The movements are to die for and the Lange 1 dial is off the charts gorgeous.

You are the one who will wear and enjoy it. Buy the one that you like, not the one we like. Lange dials are very stunning.

Out of those two ALS. On either, make sure to buy them right, as back end can hurt on both brands.

I have an FPJ, I don't have a Lange yet (I have been dreaming about an 1815 chrono for some time now ). As much as I really like both brands, I think they are both quite different offerings in terms of the design DNA, potential use etc.

Lange. Can't beat the finishings on their movement.

Plus I find the date a more useful complication than the power reserve. And I'm just not a huge fan of the hand design on the FPJs.

I prefer the dial on the FP Journe. Its more functional for me with the large Arabic numerals. However, I'm not sure if I would buy the watch. Although, I am not a big fan of brand rating, I think the Lange is a slightly higher end watch and may have a better resell value down the line.

On your wrist the FPJ looks much better IMHO, the L1 seems too big for you.

I prefer the Journe, it's a watch I would very much like to own. I have a Lange 1815 up/down and I love it. However I find this Lange 1 a bit difficult to read. I would have preferred it in WG/Plat. with blue hands.

Do you need the date on your watch?

If not than go for the CS

Which just happens to be my favourite non complicated, excluding the PR, Journe.

Extremely accurate and a gorgeous movement

Is the Journe in the photo made of RG and the older model?

Good point - I think I need the date but maybe I can do without given I have 9 other watches and this could come out on special occasions.

I think this is the older model as the new one has a solid gold dial. I have only tried the CS on once but my thoughts so far are:

- more exclusive than Lange, I believe 800-900 pieces made a year
- solid gold movement
- Lange has date and gold appliqués.
- CS is slimmer
- Prices are similar after discount.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Cheers
Anuj

I was considering both of these and went with the Journe CS (new gold dial version).

The Lange 1 did not sit well on my wrist. It's the rare watch that I like it more in pictures than in the flesh.

I love the Lange, altho the Moonphase would be my top choice, but that is probably my fav Journe, very nice.

Both very nice watches. I'd go for the Lange, but I'd look at the moonphase instead, very attractive.

As much as I love Lange I think between these 2 the FPJ appeals a little more to me, which is strange as I prefer having date on my watches, but the FPJ is very original and is a killer in RG, but both are great watches and you can't go wrong with either...

The standard Lange 1 feels a bit 'empty' to me, which I don't think when seeing the Lange 1 moon phase. So in this case I prefer the FPJ.
