** Official Girard-Perregaux owners/pics/talk thread **
There wasn't an "official thread" for Girard-Perregaux on TRF. As of today, thanks to Santa, this can change! ;-)
I'm happy to share my new beauty. Please join in with yours. |

I'll play: 1966 classic. Love the eggshell dial and the blued second hand. 41mm wears a bit big but works better for me than the 38mm.

Elegant, classy but not overly classic. My wife knew of a couple G-Ps I really liked, but when she saw this one, she went for it. Makes it that little bit more special, since I know how little she cares about watches and the hobby. Many thanks. Thanks, Paul! Have a great end to the year and even better 2017. |

Gorgeous. The PM 1966 models have such an elegant simplicity to them that is pretty complicated to pull off so well. 41 is a good size to let the dial breathe. |

Congratulations-- this model is at the top of my list as well. I noticed that they reduced the size of "Automatic" on the dial, added 1792 & made the font bolder since the initial release. I assume it is the same watch underneath?

Great piece and your wife gifting it to you makes it even more special. Happy holidays and wear it through many happy years together. |

Thanks so much, Nick. I've always enjoyed seeing all the different brands you wear, so I'm glad to diversify, too. Quote:
It's a big watch, no doubt, but the short curved lugs, very thin case and elegant looks make it wear really well. Quote:

Now I'm in love with two models: manufacture 1960 and the traveller II. Pics from Google: Both are between 38 and 40mm. Are classic with a modern touch. I'm not fan of chronos but this one is amazing! Hope to add one of these two very soon!! For sure I'll keep informed. 😉 "Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana". Groucho Marx. |

I think GP's 1966 is their best line. Its pretty cool that they do both movements and cases inhouse. I would really like to see their full calendar in real life, it looks stunning in pics. From Hodinkee:

Gp 66
Congratulations! On my wish list too!
GP has a unique place in horological history. While people tend to gravitate toward the Big Three, GP has impeccable credentials as well that actually is a good reflection of the ups and downs of the industry over the centuries. This stainless steel model is a stunner. Thanks for starting the thread! Bonne heureuse annee! |

Now that I've lived with this watch a bit more, I keep falling more in love with it. There are so many lovely and fine details (the elegant, slender hands that have the perfect length, the applied indexes that are beautifully carved, the thin and delicate bezel, the lugs and how they fit with the case, the case itself) that make it a very personal and intimate watch.
But, there's an interesting and satisfying tension with the larger size, which gives the watch a dynamic side that contrasts with the more classic elements. Tradition with an edge, if you will. The whole package is interesting to me, and I keep discovering more with time. As for the movement, it seems to be keeping good time, but it's still early for that. I really enjoy changing the date - there's such a satisfying audible and physical mechanical click for each date change. On the other hand, my first impression of the winding is a little less glowing - it's not as smooth and silky as I expected. Perhaps this will improve with time.... Anyway, just wanted to share a few impressions. I'm sure things will develop with more time. |

After being absent for a few years, GP is coming back to SIHH this year.
I am excited to see what they'll be presenting. Surely it will be good, otherwise why come back? They've already announced a really nice world timer and a lovely Laureato for the ladies. |

Sihh 2017
Wow, a HUGE year for GP at SIHH....They came back in style. Like other companies (see Panerai), it seems like the choice was made to pull out all the stops in this challenging market and really go for it. Laureato The Laureato is now a full blown collection, with nearly 30 references in sizes of 34, 38, 42 and 45. Some examples below: 45 = Laureato with tourbillon and bridge 42 = TT, blue, grey and white dials, bracelets and straps Just a couple of examples: 38 = gold, TT, blue, grey and white dials, bracelets and straps Just a couple of examples: 38 = diamonds, gold, TT, blue, grey and white dials, bracelets and straps Just a couple of examples: WW.TC A clean and modern world timer for the 1966 collection. Neo-bridges A modern & technical design with clear GP DNA. Planetarium Tri-axial "The Planetarium Tri-axial is one of the very few triple-axis Tourbillon in the watch industry. It defies gravity with the spectacular high speed 3D rotation of its Tourbillon, but also with its terrestrial globe making a rotation in 24 hours, offering an intuitive view of the time all over the world. Its impressive case design incorporates two sapphires domes and a side opening allwoing to admire the tourbillon from all angles." |

New post-SIHH release - Laureato Skeleton models
Newly released today, May 5, the Laureato line adds two skeleton pieces, fully decorated by hand, one in SS and one in RG, both at 42 mm wide and only 10.88 mm thin.
The SS has a water resistance of 100 meters (!), with the RG having 50 meters. |
